         <description><![CDATA[<div>"Well, you ain't tryin very hard. I seen him goin' in your house" (pg.32)<br><br>Analysis: Slim also has a southern accent like George and Lennie<br><br><br>"Ain't many guys travel around together, he mused. 'I don't know why. Maybe ever'body in the whole damn world is scared of each other." (pg.35)<br><br>Analysis: Slim finds it unique that George and Lennie are travelling around together, and saw it as a good thing.<br><br><br>"Nine of 'em. I drowned four of 'em right off. She couldn't feed that many." (pg. 35)<br><br>Analysis: Slim felt that a sense of humanity in killing the puppies himself rather than having them starve to death.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Pg 26: "Well...tell you what. Curley's like a lot of little guys. He hates big guys. He's alla time picking scraps with big guys. Kind of like he's mad at 'em because he ain't a big guy. You seen little guys like that, ain't you? Always scrappy?"<br>Analysis: This shows that Curley is insecure about his height and compensates by fighting more than necessary.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>´́I gotta be settin ́ out the wash basins for the guys. ̈<br>Pg. 28<br>This shows the old man is still physically active , and this could confirm an accent as his word choice was settin. Just like other characters have shown their southern accent throughout their speech I think the old man has one as well.&nbsp;<br><br>"The old man looked cautiously at the door to make sure no one was listening" (pg 26)<br>Candy is actively aware of his surroundings and on the lookout. Even after Curley leaves, Candy makes sure he is completely gone to avoid any potential trouble.<br><br>"The old man was reassured. He had drawn a derogatory statement from George. He felt safe now and spoke more confidently." (pg 27-28)<br>Candy seems to like gossip. Although he is slightly reserved, George's receptiveness encourages him to keep going.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>"S'pose Curley jumps a big guy an' licks him. Ever'body says what a game guy Curley is. And s'pose he does the same thing and gets licked. Then ever'body says the big guy oughta pick on somebody his own size." (pg. 26)<br>This shows how much influence Curley has on people and how they are scared of him. His authority was so great that his word was taken on any subject..."<br>analysis: This shows that Slim is well respected by those around him. We can infer that he's sincere and respectful.<br>(pg. 36) "George had been staring intently at Slim."<br>analysis: this shows that others pay close attention to Slim. we can infer that slim's personality causes people to pay attention to him. (even though Carlson was the one speaking, George was staring at Slim.)<br>(pg. 36) "Carlson stepped back to let Slim precede him..."<br>analysis: By letting Slim pass first, Carlson displays the respect he has from him.<br>(pg. 36) "A brown and white one," Lennie cried excitedly.<br>analysis: Lennie likes Slim, or is excited to see him, primarily because of his puppies.<br><br></div>]]></description>

There would be no reason for him to step to Lennie if he didn't feel threatened by his size. </div>]]></description>
