Format for all grade levels

Create a choice board for each grade level. Different teachers sign up to complete the various tasks within their content area. Have set Naviance days where everyone is doing their task on the same day. Specialists would collaborate to offer support on Naviance days at each site.

Advisory time is being implemented next year, so it would be nice if we could establish a certain day/days of the month in advisory for students to remain in their classroom specifically for Naviance lessons.

Canvas

One central Canvas course (each grade level has its own module) and then each specialist has their own "class" so that they're in charge of content, students are enrolled, and the specialist can push it into classrooms (like how the counselors may have their own site Canvas Courses).

12th grade access

We already have some events specifically for seniors (i.e. college application days, quarterly senior meetings) and could embed Naviance lesson/task into that.

Flex Time

Could create small, very focused Canvas Course that students are auto-enrolled in which two modules are published with activities we want them to complete

An online version to have the students complete it, but there needs to be some sort of contact with the students to make sure it is completed. All high schools look different with this and it will have to be what works best for your building.

9th grade lessons

MYP 9 at Central is expanding into a yearlong course, so they will likely want to keep Naviance lessons slated for that course (and probably further use the platform for additional lessons).

Provide a resource that aligns Naviance lessons to various standards within core classes, which will help teachers feel more confident intertwining Naviance within their own curriculum.

This still fits in well with US History and History classes. I think keeping where Naviance lessons for the quarter are completed in one class period works very well. The teachers are very willing to give up one day for Naviance.

Launch

Launch data should be taken from students who have logged in "at least once" (not the whole of Launch students; too fluid).

Having a scheduled zoom teach/talk/FAQ was helpful at Middle School levels--needs developed at HS :) Not sure if this should be just specialist or specialist as "teacher" and counselor for their own originally assigned lessons (in progress Spring 2024).

Makes sense to go into English III or Am Gov for completion of activities, but I don't know if those classes already have alot of mandates on them. We need more information from Curriculum heads on what is already going on in classes that is possibly aligned already (are they already doing resumes' in English III?)

These videos/lessons tend to fall flat in my experience. Pulling newer/more interesting content for lessons might be a good idea.

Currently, the final lessons are pretty heavy on college options/information so I'm a bit worried about buy-in from all students. Maybe consider revising for next year?

Almost always combine both lessons/tasks into 1 classroom visit (block schedule) rather than trying to schedule twice per quarter

Self Assessments

In 9th and 10th grade a lot of schools do both lessons in one day. We need to make sure there are not 2 assessments for one quarter. Also, making sure we have some sort of reflection piece after taking each self-assessment makes the lesson more whole instead of just discussing the results. The students seem to get more when they have to reflect on their results.

Course for Advisory to pull into their course

at KHS, Chief time happens within a certain block (maybe not the same at all high schools), create module that the teachers could pull in , students could complete focused activities once a month in Chief time, teachers would track completion and give points.

(I worry about teachers doing all those steps) Could Learning Specialist push it into courses for us

I think this is important especially for 11th and 12 graders. What do they need help with? What's their plans? Based on students' feedback, we could facilitate a monthly lesson on a given topic during intervention... fill out FAFSA, creating a resume...
