A way to promote communication between students is the activity I found last semester called Give a clue. You would take whatever unit you are learning about and split students up into partners. One reads the word on the board and has to give them clues and hints so the other student guesses the word correctly. This would cause students to talk with each other because that is the only way their partner can guess the word.

I think a great way to establish collaboration between students is a scavenger hunt. I've done this before in school and it is a great way to work as a team because if you guys don't work together you can be going in circles because you guys didn't get the right answer.

I think a way to activate critical thinking in the classroom would be by doing a debate. Whether it is related to the lessons or not ask a question or put a topic in the air. Have students go to their side and then on the spot state their reasoning as doing this on the fly allows them to think of the most important details the quickest.

A way to activate creativity that I found is called Assumption busting. The activity works by writing assumptions on the board and asking students to name conditions or factors that would cause whatever is listed to go against the assumption. This is a way that really strives students to think about the box which is very beneficial.
