When you write, it’s important to use authoritative sources to support your ideas. Authoritative sources are books, websites, or experts you can trust because they give accurate and true information.

Here’s how to use them:

1. Find reliable information:
   Look for facts or ideas from experts, trusted websites (like government or educational sites), or books written by specialists.

2. Use the information to support your point:
   When you make a statement, add information from these sources to prove that what you’re saying is true.

3. Tell your reader where the information comes from:
   You can say things like:

   • “According to scientists…”

   • “Experts say…”

   • “A recent study shows…”

4. Don’t just copy—explain it:
   After sharing the information, explain why it helps your argument.

• Don’t put everything in one paragraph.

• Choose one reason and explain it fully.

• Ask yourself: Why should people agree with me?

• List 3–4 possible reasons. Each one can be its own paragraph. (These should already be listed in your introduction paragraph - but you may not have!)
