It was very fascinating to learn about the lack of technological integration in other countries. The idea of teaching someone how to use google for research seems very odd, but it really puts into perspective the amount of resources that teachers in South Africa are working with. Also, the speaker mentioned how there are not many education or childcare opportunities in South Africa for children who are not in school. I thought daycare was a universal thing and never considered that young children and their parents do not have that internationally. Finally, I also learned that people in South Africa have less access to their government than we do here. Even though we imagine our government and policymakers to be isolated in ivory towers sometimes, it is interesting to note that many other countries have even less access than we do.
