From my personal viewpoint, looking into the family history will reveal some egregious preconception which may negatively affect the descendant. In the past, there existed several tradition, namely inhumane chastisement and slave trade, bringing a sense of embarassment, disappointment and hatress to the recent family. As a result, the family may have a feeling of aversion for their ancestry and cannot focus on the positive face or be interested in their roots anymore. This harms the development of thw family.
