award subtle but meaningful credit for small moments of engagement, moments that can't/don't stand alone as unique formative/summative assessments. Things like involvement in a discussion, bell-ringers, displays of leadership, embodiment of classroom core values, etc. I let those points accumulate to some max threshold and use that as a summative grade at the end of a grading period (tip: offer more points than the score is ultimately worth to ensure students max out!). This is great assessment content for management discussions and conferences/comments you'll write for each student.

I like how the paragraph describes the skills to-be-acquired as a toolbox. It suggests that students will be taught multiple methods for finding solutions, a more inclusive and sustainable way to think about education in all disciplines. This also is a great way to consider what Aspire can do- enrich students' skills with robust, diverse skills that they can take into their diverse home schools that teach particular content in their own particular ways.
