We see King illustrating this idea when he says, "In no sense do I advocate evading or defying the law, as would the rabid segregationist...One who breaks an unjust law must do so openly, lovingly, and with a willingness to accept the penalty." As displayed, King firmly believes that he does not advocate responding to injustice in a rude/ violent manner, as he compares that type of response to a "rabid segregationist." Instead, King believes that in order to effectively respond to injustice, one "must do so openly, lovingly, and with a willingness to accept the penalty."
