Hello everyone!  I am Mrs. Walston and I am your instructor for this course.  Here is a picture of my family white water rafting this summer! It was AMAZING, ya'll!!! That water was FREEZING!!!! Brrr! We camped in the mountains for a few days and then rafted on the Watauga River (and I'm not even an outdoorsy girl, but it was still hands down the best family trip ever!) I am blessed to have these three boys call me mama.  My boys are ages 12, 10, and 7.  Oh, and that guy to my right- that's my hubs. After almost 18 years, I think I'll keep him :)  So, just a brief rundown-I am an ECU graduate with my BSW and MSW degrees.  I have worked in various field settings but the bulk of my time was spent as a Child Welfare Worker at a local DSS.  I have been teaching at NCC for about four + years and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!  I love sharing my passion for human services with students who share my enthusiasm. My name is Erica Pitchford. I just dropped my only child off at UNC Pembroke! I am excited and sad at the same time. Seeing myself take this new journey has encouraged me to finish my degree.  If all goes well this summer (2017) will be my final semester! I am majoring in Human Services.  I love traveling so I spent the bulk of my summer taking mini trips every few weeks. I myself am big on customer service and helping people. I hope obtaining my degree in Human Services will place me in a better position to help and positively affect the lives of others.

My oldest just completed his 4 years of service in the Marine Corp. He & his wife are headed home this week for a few days before heading off to Houston Texas to begin the next phase of their lives. I am sad to see them go, but happy to see them progressing successfully through life. My second oldest is a senior this year & plans to join the Armed Forces as well. My baby boy plans to follow suit also ... we are a military family! I am majoring in Human Service Technology and I will be graduating in January of 2018. I chose this major because I enjoying helping people and making a positive difference. I know how hard it is not to have encouraging words and support so I want to be able to give that to others. This Is my 3rd semester at Nash CC. This summer I did not do too much. My work and online classes prevented me from doing a lot. I did do a little traveling. My oldest son played AAU basketball this summer which required some traveling and a lot of money. (LOL) I am a single parent to 2 boys who are 16 and 12 and I also take care of my 16 year-old sister. I took her on as another responsibility because our mother passed away from breast cancer almost 4 years ago. I plan to graduate and further my education and I would also like to move to Charlotte, NC to start my career. My name is Rimah and I am majoring in Human service technology. I've had Mrs. Walston for several class and hands down one of my favorite teachers ever!I chose this major because my husband is a social worker and I became really interested in his job. Helping people feels great and its very rewarding. I figured, why not get my own degree and start doing what he does instead of watching. Once i got married moved to michigan, this is why i am having to take the rest of my classes online. My summer was spent half the time here in nc. I have family here and i love to take advantage of visiting them while i can. We went to the beach and had many father gatherings and BBQs. My name is Patricia Bailey and my major is Human Service Technology and I will be graduating in May 2017. I have two more semesters to go. I plan on furthering my education to become a drug abuse counselor or a mental health counselor.I have always love working with people. I am mother of two kids ages 22, and 14.
