Pollution: The introduction of harmful substances or contaminants into the ocean, resulting in adverse effects on marine life and ecosystems. This can include chemical pollutants, plastic waste, oil spills, and sewage discharge.

Overfishing: The excessive and unsustainable harvesting of fish and other marine species beyond their reproductive capacity, leading to depletion of fish populations and disruption of the marine food chain.

Coral bleaching: A phenomenon where corals expel the symbiotic algae living within their tissues, causing them to turn white or pale. It is often a result of increased water temperatures due to climate change, leading to the loss of coral reefs and the ecosystems they support.

Marine debris: Any solid waste materials that enter the ocean, including plastic bottles, fishing nets, microplastics, and other human-made items. Marine debris poses a significant threat to marine life through entanglement, ingestion, and habitat destruction.

Acidification: The ongoing decrease in the pH levels of seawater due to increased absorption of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Ocean acidification can harm marine organisms with calcium carbonate shells, such as corals, shellfish, and some plankton, as it inhibits their ability to build and maintain their protective structures.

Dead zones: Areas in the ocean with extremely low levels of oxygen, primarily caused by excessive nutrient runoff from land-based sources like agriculture and sewage. Dead zones can lead to the mass death of marine organisms and the disruption of marine ecosystems.

Marine protected areas: Designated regions in the ocean that are legally protected to conserve and sustainably manage marine ecosystems, biodiversity, and resources. These areas can help preserve critical habitats, protect vulnerable species, and maintain healthy ocean ecosystems.

Sea level rise: The increase in the average height of the ocean's surface due to the melting of ice caps and glaciers, as well as the thermal expansion of seawater. Sea level rise poses a threat to coastal communities, causing erosion, flooding, and the loss of habitats.

Eutrophication: The excessive enrichment of water bodies with nutrients, often caused by the runoff of fertilizers from agriculture and sewage discharge. Eutrophication can lead to the rapid growth of algae, depleting oxygen levels and causing harm to marine life in affected areas.

Biodiversity: The variety of species, ecosystems, and genetic diversity found in the ocean. Maintaining biodiversity is crucial for the stability and resilience of marine ecosystems and supports various ecological processes, such as nutrient cycling and food webs
