Kary Mullis discovered and called his new technique of DNA “PCR” which stands for Polymerase chain reaction . The key ingredient in the PCR is the enzyme , a protein that speeds up chemical reaction. The enzyme is called taq DNA polymerase which comes from bacteria found in geysers and hot springs . PCR can create unlimited copies of very small sections of DNA very quickly. Each copying cell takes only 2minutes, the one copy of DNA from a single cell 2 copies , 2 copies become 4 , 4 becomes 8 and, 8 becomes 16.

Problems that come with DNA

One of the problems with DNA testing is time and mishandling evidence. Testing can take take months to complete and completing a jury trial between the time DNA evidence is collected at a crime scene and the time is is analyzed at the lab,it can be mishandled so badly that it loses all credibility with a judge and jury. A forensic microscope which is a size of a credit card and a computer the size of a shoebox may go a long way toward solving these problems.WIth a microchip ,DNA evidence will no longer have to be collected and brought back into a crime lab. Instead, lab technicians can bring the microchip directly to the scene of the crime .
