Once they've logged on, a menu of all the food courts will be displayed on the screen. Students would then be able to select the food court they wish to dine at.

Upon deciding the food court they wish to dine at, the application would bring them to a page in which they are able to check on the number of students who are currently dining at that particular food court as well as the availability of seats. It would also display a layout of the available tables and chairs in the food court in which they can choose their preferred seats and make a reservation if they wish to.

As there will be sensors attached above the tables as well as to the chairs, occupied tables will allow the sensor to reflect a red light while unoccupied tables will allow the sensor to reflect a green light.  
For tables that are unoccupied, students are able to make a reservation for the tables 15 minutes before their actual dining time. The sensor will then change from a green to red light 15 minutes before the actual dining time as well upon a successful reservation made.  If they do not arrive at the reserved table within the first 15 minutes of their dining time, the sensor will then change from a red to green light which means that the table is available for reservation. 

These sensors will be linked to the application, enabling students to check on the availability of seats at the respective food courts before proceeding there. Since each food court is located rather far apart from one another, this application will allow students to save traveling time between the food courts.
