"The Bedrock of who a leader is" (Northouse, 2018).
There are many great attributes of leaders but, for me, integrity is at the heart of being a good leader. Integrity is seen in honesty, being trustworthy, taking responsibility for one's actions, while being loyal, dependable, transparent, authentic, and above reproach. If one lacks integrity, it is difficult to be seen as someone who is "believable and worthy of our trust" (Northhouse, 2018)

Having awareness and understanding, with a positive belief and security in one's abilities to succeed; are not prone to second guess oneself. (Northouse, 2018)
This trait needs the empowerment of preparedness which creates a sense of competence in the ability to follow-through. If on lacks confidence, it can affect others' view of their ability to be a leader.

Confidence can be interpreted in a couple of ways.
First, it can create that sense of competence that others will appreciate and associate with success, and will view as a leader they want to follow, the view the leader as someone who knows what they are doing.
Or, secondly, peoples' perception of confidence may be met with feelings that the leader is proud or arrogant, thus not approachable by those working under them.

We also need to identify opportunities to use our traits to create an authentic, open environment or culture that is inclusive and nurtures the abilities and skills of others.
