How bullying develops in different social status?

Some kids have more power than others because they are bigger, stronger, or more popular. Kids who are different or more vulnerable, like those with a disability, learning difficulties, or who live in poorer neighborhoods, can be bullied more easily. According to the 2018 National Survey of Children’s Health (NSCH), out of 23,494 children between 5 and 17 years old, many reported these differences in their bullying experiences.

They usually appear weaker, shy, or lacking confidence, and in some cases may have special needs or learning difficulties.

It is therefore vital to gain more information about those young people who are particularly at risk of bullying so that policy interventions can be based on good evidence and targeted at the right groups. Previous research tells us that race and ethnicity, religion, culture, sexuality, disability, being a young carer and having special educational needs are all likely to make young people more susceptible to bullying. However, no previous research has attempted to take account of a large number of other factors that might explain the relationships between these characteristics and bullying

Ross, A.
