]]> 2023-10-29 23:20:28 UTC https://padlet.com/bgodsey/lbg568nnhil5egov/wish/2767908760 Capt. George Gowen, great-grandfather of Graysen Gowen https://padlet.com/bgodsey/lbg568nnhil5egov/wish/2767910861 My great-grandfather was a Navy captain who served his country with pride his entire career. His Navy ship was torpedoed by the Japanese in the Pacific Ocean during the Battle of Vella Lavella during World War II. My great-grandfather survived by swimming through shark-infested water to a rescue ship. He retired in 1971, but later met and shook hands with the man who torpedoed his ship. I never got to meet him, but he’s the reason I am here today. I love you, Great-Grandpa George!
