His father who has been mentioned very few times has left Conner and his mother a long time ago. Conner gets nightmares occasionally and he has one nightmare that's his greatest fear, he won't tell anyone about it. However, he has been getting these types of "dreams" where the Yew tree turned into a monster. Conner isn't afraid of this yew tree monster even though these dreams look very real. He would wake up and be in his bed again, however there will be yew tree leaves or berries throughout his room even when the door is locked, giving him hints that the dream was real. Conner is having a hard time at home and at school, his mom has cancer and is very weak and ill and Conner has to do most things around the house. At school he gets bullied a lot but hes used to it. It seems that he has no friends and it also seems that he hates when other people stick up, but i think inside he feels grateful. For example when Lily defended Conner he got very mad at her for "messing things up" when she was only trying to help. However, when he got bullied by Harry and his friends, he didn't completely dislike it, because even though he was getting bullied, they still noticed him. But when Harry says "I know longer see you" This triggers something inside of him, he feels outraged. The monster is telling the story of the invisible man and the story follows with Conner's actions. This ties in with Conner's life because Conner blamed lily for ruining his day or getting him in trouble when it was really Conners fault. All Lily tried to do was stick up for him and she was doing nothing wrong until Conner let out his anger on her and blamed her. The second tale was when the Parson was only being nice to the Apothecary when he needed him to save his daughters. I think this ties in with Conner's life because all these teachers are being very nice to him and being very lenient with whatever he does because of his mom's condition. If his mom was okay and and everyone was fine, then the teachers would have not been so nice to him or carefree. The third tale is about how there is this invisible man and he hated not being seen so he made people see him. I feel that the movie was being unravel´d pretty fast. In the book, we took time to get to know Conner while in the movie it already jumped very fast to where his grandma came. I feel like the exposition in the movie was pretty weak and very fast I felt as if they rushed it.
