         <title>Prof. Katerina Adam, SMME NTUA - Organiser of RMs Manager Course - NTUA edition</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Katerina Adam, Professor at SMME, NTUA</strong>. Studied Mining and Metallurgical Engineering at NTUA and acquired her M.Sc. and Ph.D. as an NSF scholar from the School of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science, University of Minnesota, USA.&nbsp; She joined NTUA as Academic staff in 2007 and before she worked as a Senior Engineer and Manager in Research Institutes, Mining &amp; Metallurgical Industry and Environmental Consultancy firms. Her Research interest lies in Project &amp; Environmental Management, Sustainable Development of Natural Resources, Raw Materials Education, Reclamation of old mine sites, Health and Safety.&nbsp;<br>She was involved as the coordinator or senior researcher in 50 National, EC and International funded research projects, and she conducted as an expert on behalf of UNDP mine reclamation studies in the SW Balkans, 2011-2014. She participated in drafting of Greek legislation on Environmental Permitting and Auditing and in the preparation of Greek and EU legislation on Extractive Waste Management.&nbsp; She authored or co-authored 93&nbsp; articles in refereed scientific journals and conference proceedings, and more than 100 Technical, Feasibility and Environmental Impact Studies. Professor K. Adam is presently the Project Leader of the&nbsp; EIT Raw Materials project En-Act SDGs and&nbsp; the NTUA team coordinator in the&nbsp; Education projects, TrainESEEv.2, RMsManager, RawMaterials@Schools-ESEE, DIM ESEE-2. She acts as the Education Advisor of the EIT Raw Materials Hub – Regional Center Greece.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Dr. George Valakas</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Dr. George Valakas </strong>is a senior researcher at the School of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens, where he is a lecturer, and participates in three Education Projects of EIT Raw Materials. His main research interests include spatial statistics, optimization methods, mineral exploration, and the development of interactive educational tools that incorporate such complicated concepts and theories within the framework of sustainable development principles. He has contributed as a programmer to an open-access multimedia e-book for Mineral Exploration, funded by Kallipos, Hellenic Academic Libraries. He is also the developer of the simulation game “From Exploration to Exploitation: a Mineral Adventure”. Recently, he was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship by the State Scholarships Foundation of Greece. He graduated from the Statistics Department of Athens University of Economics and Business and acquired an M.Sc. degree in Environmental Analysis of Terrestrial Systems from the University of Sheffield in the UK. He holds a Ph.D. in spatial statistics and optimization methods from the SMME of the NTUA.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Dr. Eng. Antonis Peppas</strong> is a member of teaching staff at National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and he has participated as a senior researcher in more than 30 EC funded projects. He has considerable research experience in process design and development, energy optimization of industrial processes and assessment of the environmental impact of products and production processes through LCA analysis. He is supervising more than 15 years, all the innovation actions implemented in Hydrogen Living Lab at Lavrion Technological and Cultural Park, promoting alternative fuels sustainability. He is a member of the Sustainable Transport Forum on a common data approach for electromobility and other alternative fuels, appointed by European Commission's Director-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE).</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Mrs. Vassiliki Missa</strong>, Chemical Engineer MSc., came to the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), after spending more than 15 years of consulting in the private sector, working in the areas of occupational health and safety, environmental management, energy efficiency, EU funding consulting and EU projects’ management. Through her participation in a notable number of EU funded projects mainly, she has developed significant skills in project management and coordination.<br> Since 2019 she has undertaken the role of the Financial Coordinator for EIT RawMaterials Hub - Regional Center Greece, which was established by EIT RawMaterials in cooperation with NTUA.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Dimitris Damigos</strong> is a Professor in the Department of Mining of the School of Mining Engineering - Metallurgy of the NTUA, in the field of “Environmental Economics in Mining Industry”. His main research and professional activity is oriented to the use of Environmental Economics in the mining and energy industry, in the context of Cost - Benefit and Cost - Efficiency Analyses, and on mineral economics and valuation. His research interests include environmental valuation, financial and cost-benefit analyses, mineral and energy economics and environmental management. He teaches a number of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. He has participated as a researcher or lead researcher or coordinator in more than 60 research projects. Among others, he was the Scientific Responsible of the GEVAD (Greek Environmental Valuation Database). He has published more than 140 papers in the abovementioned fields and serves as reviewer in more than 10 peer-review journals.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Anastasios (Tassos) Kladis studied Mining and Metallurgical Engineering at NTUA, Greece. He received an M.Sc. in Mineral Economics, Nottingham University, UK. He has been trained in professional courses&nbsp; at INDEAD, France and IMD, Switzerland. He spent more than 20 years in Mining Industry, especially in Industrial Minerals, holding senior managerial positions, mainly in Business Development and General Management. Ha been active in JV’s and M&amp;A’s, in several countries, e.g. China, India, Turkey, USA. In 2015 he setup Advanced Minerals &amp; Recycling Solutions P.C (AdMiRIS), offering services in LCA, strategic materials sourcing, and technical business planning. Simultaneously he is consulting mining companies at CEO level&nbsp; in Strategic Business Development and M&amp;A’s. Through AdMiRIS he is participating in several EU Funded projects, e.g. EnsureAl, RemovAl, AlSiCal, Reactiv, Harare, SCALE-UP.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Dr. Efthymios Balomenos </strong>studied Mining and Metallurgical engineering at National Technical University of Athens and received his PhD degree in Thermodynamics in the same school in 2006. Since 2008 he has been working in the Laboratory of Metallurgy as a postdoc researcher focusing on sustainable process development, CO<sub>2 </sub>mitigation strategies, exergy analysis and resource utilization efficiency. He is involved in the research management and coordination of several collaborative large scale research projects (ENEXAL,&nbsp; EURARE, SCALE, ENSUREAL, RemovAl, BIORECOVER, AlSiCaL, SISAL PILOT, HARARE, ReActiv) most of which focus on Bauxite Residue valorisation or alumina production. He has more than 75 research publications in journals and conference proceeding with more than 600 citations and an h-index of 14. Since 2015, he is employed in MYTILINEOS SA as senior consultant. He was a recipient of the TMS Light Metals Subject Award – Alumina &amp; Bauxite in 2017 and since 2020 he is an ICSOBA regional ambassador.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Dr. <strong>Andreas Benardos</strong> is an Associate Professor at the School of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). He is currently the Director of the Interdisciplinary Postgraduate studies program of “Design and Construction of Underground Works”, which is jointly co-organised by the School of Mining &amp; Metallurgical Eng., the School of Civil Eng. and the School of Rural &amp; Surveying Eng. of NTUA.<br><br></div><div>He holds a Diploma in Mining Engineering and a Ph.D. in risk assessment for underground construction projects from NTUA. His research interests are focused on the topics of underground space development and mine design, risk assessment in underground construction, ventilation, project cost estimation and management as well as on applications of artificial neural networks in geo-engineering. He has participated in more than 25 research projects awarded by European, National bodies and private firms and has published more than 60 papers in scientific journals and international conferences.<br><br></div><div>He has worked as external consultant / technical advisor in various mining, construction and consultaning companies (ICAP GROUP S.A., LTCP, Neorion Shipyards, S.A., TERNA S.A., S&amp;B Industrial Minerals, GMM LARCO S.A., ECHMES Ltd, etc.). Furthermore, he is reviewer in more than 15 scientific journals and has worked as an expert evaluator for the Greek General Secretariat for Research and Technology – GRST, the South African National Research Foundation (NRF)&nbsp; and the European Commission – EC.<br><br></div>]]></description>
