"The invention of the printing press in 1440 by Johannes Gutenberg changed the world forever. Before this invention, books had to be copied by hand, which took months or even years to complete. As a result of the printing press, books could be produced much faster and cheaper. Therefore, more people had access to books, which led to increased literacy rates throughout Europe. Consequently, new ideas spread rapidly, contributing to the Renaissance period."
