Business processes have become more and more complex over time and the competition in the emerging markets heats up. Traditional management methodologies do not correspond to the ever-changing environment anymore and are not capable of meeting the needs of a business.

A couple of decades ago we used to look at a project as a big canvas rather than as a puzzle compiled of many small chunks that are interconnected. The development of a new product or a service was often long-winded and costly, companies faced frequent delays, budget overruns and sometimes even compete failures because the finished product did not deliver what was expected in the beginning. This is why new and more process-oriented approaches gradually started to develop and become more popular. One of those methodologies that became highly popular amongst professionals is that of the Agile Project Management (APM). By the time agile training courses became highly demanded and this approach attracted the attention of many managers.

Agile Project Management is a management methodology that focuses on constant advancement in the business processes by breaking down the project into smaller and more manageable parts. More specifically, Agile Project Management was created to decrease the level of complexity. It is based on the assumption that the circumstances change as a project goes on. Moreover, one of the most important principles of APM is to continuously evaluate the time and the cost of every process as the team moves through the work. If you are into Project Management you will absolutely agree that customers and investors want a quality product on time and on budget, but the requirements seem to change all the time. APM is an approach that addresses the fast change and makes sure the project does not suffer from them.
Although APM quickly becomes a superstar amongst the other methodologies, change management courses in the UK are and will still be quite popular. In spite of the concerns of many professionals about whether change management does not correspond to the innovation of Agile and slows things down, there is a strong need for change management when implementing the principles of APM. It is important to note that some implications for change management do in fact blend with the adaptation of Agile Project Management. For instance, when providing plans for application of ideas and processes, also called transition plans, the company will most likely experience a cycle of change while plans are put in action.

In contrast of many pricey and error-prone methodologies, APM is considered to be a value-driven approach allowing the managers to assure high-quality and high-priority work. The approach gives the managers much greater visibility and constant feedback, reacting extremely quickly to all the changes and defects as the process develops, resulting in a better-quality work and final product.

If you are interested in Project Management or consider yourself a professional that follows all the trends in the field, exploring the principles of Agile Project Management and implementing them is definitely a must.
