The Ending.

In the ending of Chinese Cinderella, I started to tear up. The fact that she was abused and neglected as a child, made it worse. Considering she already put herself down for everyone thinking she caused her mother's death when she was born. I can not relate to this, but I do sometimes feel like it's my fault for making simple mistakes. This is why I started to tear up, I felt like I could empathize with Jun-ling when she blames herself for her mother's death.

"My classmates made me feel as if I 'belonged.' Unlike my siblings, nobody looked down on me." Pg. 33

I believe, that me and Jun-ling can relate to feeling this way. Except, rather than feeling belonged by my classmates, I feel belonged by my artwork and keyboard. To you, this might not make sense, I get that, but creating something or making something your own... Is worth way more than money could ever be.

My Favorite Part. Pg. 101-103

These pages weren't my favorite part because I was happy that Jackie bit PLT's leg off, but because I could feel her pain as I'm reading her reaction. In most stories, you don't really get to feel the pain that the author is writing about. Sure you may feel a little sad, but you won't actually FEEL the pain. This is why I would recommend Chinese Cinderella, because as the author is writing this, you can FEEL all of the pain she is going through. Whether it's mentally or physically, you can still FEEL the authors pain! That right there, is what makes a good book.

I believe, that this is how Jun-ling felt when she arrived in England for college. Before in Hong Kong, she was the undesired daughter, but now in England she can be whatever she wants without being criticized or neglected by her family. Now, she has more chances to do things, and finally be happy. This gif represents her changing as a person, from being depressed, to finally being who she wants to be.

Some Questions I had while reading Chinese Cinderella.

While reading this novel, I have had a couple of questions here and there. For example, why was Niang so frustrated when Jun-ling told her not to hit her child anymore (page 54)? Did she really have to make a big deal out of it by despising her as she grew older? This to me makes no sense at all, Niang WAS pretty much fighting her 2 year old. Another question I had was why didn't anyone else mourn at Ye Ye's funeral (page 200)? I think that they honestly didn't like Ye Ye. They already treated him like he was a burden. Did they honestly just not care about anyone?

"Now he'll never know how much he influenced me. Does anyone else in the world care whether I win or lose?" Pg. 200-201

Thinking about this now after reading it again, is really depressing. She feels like no one else cares about her, she is starting to lose hope. The last sentence, "Does anyone else in the world care whether I win or lose?", is a sign that she has already given up. She gave up a long time ago when she went to St. Joseph's and ended up being the only girl there. I'm just really glad that she is finally happy when she goes to England.

You can tell in this image that she is clearly depressed even as a young child. The expression on her face shows that she has already given up. I wonder if she knows that it will get better soon? I hope she does know that, because kids in HER situation, need to know it will all get better soon. Like Dory in Finding Nemo says, "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming."
