I feel that the terminology used in this book would be better appreciated by people who are already knowledgeable about musical elements. As someone who is learning about musical elements, it felt very dense. I don't think all of the chapters explained the element and what it exactly is very efficiently. It was very easy to get lost in the chapters. It felt like the author's thought process was a bit all over the place and I had a hard time following. I did enjoy that the author's passion for music is reflected in this book. It's very obvious Ratliff loves and appreciates music and all it entails. I don't think this book changed the way I listen to music.
