The pandemic has caused a shift in the way the United States have taught for years. The education system in the United States relied heavily on traditional classroom setting but as mentioned above there has been an abrupt change. As a result, student motivation has been on a decline. I would like to find out if students are still motivated to be in a traditional setting or are they gradually preferring the virtual setting. Audience will cover high school students, grades 9-12.

HOW IS THIS TOPIC RELEVANT IN THE FIELD OF EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY AND TECHNOLOGY?

The motivation of students is imperative for a quality learning environment. It is relevant to this field because this program, "The program emphasizes technology integration, training students to conduct a rapid evaluation of the efficacy of emerging learning technologies, and to integrate technology to improve teaching and learning outcomes" (www.thechicagoschool.edu). I have noticed implementing the correct technology to teach education motivates students to learn. It is vital in this virtual setting and I would like to know through research has this changed education forever?

WHY IS THIS TOPIC APPROPRIATE FOR APPLIED RESEARCH WITHIN AN ORGANIZATIONAL REARCH?

More than ever before the school system is searching for answers on how to continue quality education throughout this pandemic and beyond. There are studies showing motivation is connected to how we learn. Organizations need to understand how to make technology better for teachers and students. If teachers had a better knowledge of technology to implement for education they too will become motivated to teach students on another level. The pandemic has forced this and I believe in the future our educational system will be better for it.

We already know the definition of motivation is: "the reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way or the general desire or willingness of someone to do something" (dictionary.com). We know when someone is motivated they will do better. In the classroom it is the same but on different levels. Research will let us know how to increase motivation whether it is in a traditional or virtual setting.
