There are many places where the story takes place. The main setting is Long Island Sound Camp Half-Blood. This is shown throughout the book by the quote “Maybe my friend Kyron can help me at Camp Half-Blood.” This is important in the book because it is where three fourths of the book takes place. Camp Half-Blood also houses Apollo´s kids which is a major plot tool for his emotions in the book. Camp Half-Blood has a forest which has The Grove of Dodona which is the the hidden oracle in the book. These all show that Camp Half- Blood is the setting and affects the story.

In the book there are two main conflicts. The first being Man versus Self: Throughout the first half of the book Apollo repeatedly overestimates himself causing him and his friends to fail. During the second half of the book he repeatedly underestimates himself. He swears to not use a bow and arrow or an instrument until he becomes a god again. He also thinks of himself as a failure in his mortal state which brings him down causing him to have self-doubt. The second main conflict is Man versus Man: Throughout the book Apollo repeatedly is fighting the forces of a mysterious group. This is a group made out of three half god emperors. These emperors have stayed alive for so long by staying in the memories of Mortals. The one that is most prominent in the story is Nero or the Beast.

A strong theme throughout the book is that being egocentric will not solve problems. This is shown throughout the book because Apollo is so accustomed to being a god that he thinks that he can do anything, but he can not anymore. He repeatedly fails at all of the things that he used to be good at when he was a god. ¨As soon as he was in range, I struck. I put all of my wrath into that punch. It should have been enough to vaporize Mikey and leave a thug shaped impression on the asphalt. Then he ducked.¨ Apollo failed to even touch the two thugs. He angered them by taking to them rudely and than was not able to defend himself.

This article is about narcissism in US politicians. To sum up the article it states that some US politicians are narcissists, and they think too highly of themselves. The only thing they want from being government officials is money and power. They strive to be the best of the best within their class of government. ¨Their need for self-aggrandizement by feeding their oversized ego.¨ This is connected to the book The Trials of Apollo The Hidden Oracle because Apollo used to be a god. With the fact that Apollo used to be a God he thinks highly of himself. He wants to boost his ego and is self-absorbed when it comes to restoring his godhood. Apollo repeatedly says to himself that he is amazing and everyone loves him. He uses his narcissistic views throughout the book by repeatedly emphasizing his importance over others. He makes sure that he is always correct and whenever he messes up he always blames it on outside factors.
