Over the past four and a half years more than 250,000 Syrians have died due to armed conflict, which started as an anti-government protest and then turned into a massive civil war. More than 11 million people have had their lives taken away as they were forced from their homes as the Syrian forces were loyal to the Syrian president Bashar al-Assad those who don’t agree with the president fight each other and it doesn’t help out that they are also fighting jihadist militants.
There was protests however that didn’t help those who took part in them as they got arrested, tortured and most likely the prisoners ended up dead. There were weapons such as nerve gas that was used so there was more people dead by weapons.
There are 5 key points in the armed conflict/civil war
1. Violence escalated and some of Syria was destroyed (Deraa).
2. The war affected many people’s lives forever as 250,000 people died and even those who were lucky to not lose anyone probably lost their homes as a lot of buildings were destroyed in the conflict.
3. The individuals who participated in the protests were captured , tortured and if that wasn’t bad enough some died however there were some that were lucky to escape with their lives
4. The families who fled Syria wouldn’t return as it was a dangerous place to live and visit.
5. After the civil war there were more casualties as hundreds of people were killed in August 2013 by rockets that were filled with nerve agents.
