With this in mind the following programs were developed for student success and named "Overtime for Success".

  • After-School tutoring
  • In-School Tutoring
  • In Class Reading/Math Volunteers

We thought it was necessary to comply with these policies to protect students and volunteers. The following policies were of most importance.

Through the use of several survey's of stakeholders, we found that student engagement was low and that many students and teachers didn't feel they had time to remediate students. The following goals were set based from the collection of this data.

  1.  Increase student engagement
  2. Remediate students on standards they struggle with
  3. Recruit community partners to assist in our success

Based on these goals, we developed the Overtime for Success Tutoring Program using community partners and volunteers to provide remediation to students.

These goals also helped us understand we could utilize the community in volunteer support as much as possible as funds were limited. Consideration for other grants in the future was discussed.

To do this, we set out on a mission to recruit concerned individuals in our school community. We used the following techniques to alert the community that we needed their support and participation.
  • Newspaper articles/reports
  • Flyers around the town
  • Mailings to area churches and civic organizations
We let the community know we wanted and needed their help and we invited them to a PTO meeting where our vision, goals, and needs were expressed. This lead to many people wanting to volunteer to help our students reach their highest achievement.

Therefore, we plan to continue to use our media outlets such as the local newspaper and social media to inform the community of our ongoing success. Press release information will also be given to the various community organizations that assisted in our success to be read at their chapter or business meetings.
