Originally, I had four subproblems. I cut out the two applied subproblems and replaced them with a very small-scale applied subproblem. However, the overarching subproblem does not align well with the 3 that are now below it (the overarching subproblem was made with the four subproblem system in mind). Should we change the overall subproblem question now, or just submit the whole proposal with nothing changed, and then make changes later?

KM: You can do either. I would lean toward changing the SP question now so that it fits

Since we did not do a literature review of the second foundational SP, what goes in this section of our research proposal?

KM: You should have all sub-sections labeled and your plan (briefly) for the body and supporting evidence. For example, you might for the body say that you are planning an intro paragraph and a table or a full lit review. For supporting evidence your plan is copies of all sources plus evidence of reputability.

What goes under this section for our Foundational SP's? Is it what we put in the bottom box in our concept map, or is it more like the supporting evidence we had in our Seven Sources Assignment (and if it is like the Seven Sources, can we just say that the sources we used were in our Seven Sources)?
KM: What goes here is your plan for supporting evidence in your portfolio. It should be things like pictures, research notes, printouts, etc. that are initialed by your mentor to verify.

Do we need data tables in our Foundational SP's?
KM: No. In the old style of Basic SPs, it had a question, hypo and data table just like an applied SP. But it is much more common for basic or foundational research to be written as a summary and lit review, so I have now fully transitioned to that style. It is possible to use a table in place of a full lit review if that makes more sense, but it's not really a data table in the
applied research sense.

does our second sub-problem need 7 sources or was that just a requirement for our first sub-problem?
KM: A full lit review requires a min of 7 sources. You are only required to do one full lit review. If you have another foundational SP that is a full lit review, it would still need 7 sources. But, most students have subsequent foundational SPs that are not full, so fewer than 7 is OK. Make sense?
