Event: The activity of sketching naked models

On January 26, me and hehe went to Wallin hall to participate in free sketch of naked models. The activity started in 1:30 and we went early. The Wallin hall is the place where always hosts foundation painting lessons. When we got there, there have already had many SCAD’s students were waiting outside. They’re so hardworking that they even painted when they’re waiting.

My experience

The naked models were very professional and we followed their changes of pose to draw sketches. Because of Wallin hall’s rule, we weren’t allowed to take any pictures during the whole activity. However, the process was very interesting, and we painted a lot. It’s a very good activity before starting our major lessons, and it’s like a warm-up so we can switch quickly after finishing language lessons.

This is the group photo of me and hehe. All students seemed professional and devices were very modern. The only shortcoming was there was nowhere to place our coats and bags, and the ground had lots of eraser crumbs, so we needed to hold our things when we’re painting. My favorite part of this event is quick sketch. I liked to challenge myself so I made some quick sketches which I painted 30 seconds each. Although it’s very hard, I felt appreciated after I finished them.

What was something I learnt culturally by attending this activity

I visited the building first, and I found the students’ artworks of their elementary courses. It’s interesting to see that the homework of theirs are similar to Chinese students’. The using of colors of their work were so colorful.Also, I found the American students good at body shaping and Chinese students good at the using of different lines.
