I knew that we had sensors in our hands. However, I was not aware of how many we actually have! We have over 600 touch sensors for each square inch of our hands! Each one is sensitive enough to feel the single beat of a fly's wing. Crazy! It really makes one realize how complex we really are. EVERY tiny detail of the human body has a purpose! Our bodies and minds are incredible.

I was definitely not aware of how fast and precise we process information. Our nerves are bundles of cells that are all on a mission. Fat protects key nerves which keep signals from interfering with each other. The signals travel through the nervous system at over 250 miles per hour! I wonder what would happen if we couldn't process information at our normal speed. We wouldn't be able to do the things that we take for granted like driving.

It is incredible that our brain senses what we need before we even know what we need. When our skin heats up over about 98 degrees the brain can sense it through our hundreds of thousands of heat sensors. The brain then takes the initiative to tell the central thermostat to start cooling off the body through sweating. I am thankful that my brain alrighty know what to do tot he body to recover. Even when you don't know what is wrong with you the brain is already working in the background to keep yourself regulated!

Our brain even knows how to make difficult decisions which is somethings I was not aware of. When we are extremely dehydrated and our body goes into survival mood the brain will actually OVERRIDE the central thermostat and tell the body to stop sweating. After this, it signals the body to suck water from parts like the large intestine and our eyes and pump it back into vital organs like the heart, kidneys, and lungs. Even when you think you can't go on your brain is always fighting and pushing back! This is interesting because it makes you realize that you are stronger than what you think you are.
