I was born and raised in the Outer Banks, and the people and culture there have shaped who I am today. Growing up in a tourist town is very different from what most people are used to; it creates a deep sense of community because only a tiny percentage of the population is there year-round. Growing up here made me appreciate the people and businesses that surround me and the support that comes from living in a small town.

I spent the first semester of my freshman year at UNC Charlotte. It was a massive change as there were more students at the school than in my entire hometown. I consider this time in my life fundamental for shaping who I am because of how hard it was for me. I grew as a person because I was forced to figure out who I was and how I would fit into the world one day.
