Today is the day, I have my first flight. I have been dreaming of this ever since 1954 when I first got out of Stalingrad Air Force College. Get strapped into the rocket was the scariest moment of my life, but would later become one of the best moments of my life. The feeling of the rocket first lifting off from the launch pad was something I never could have dreamed of as a kid.

Now in 1974, now that I have had my second, and last flight, I am truly happy with how my career as a cosmonaut went and now and choosing to retire. Finally, after 3 days in space, and 48 successful orbits around the Earth, I am finally back on solid ground. It is such a nice feeling to finally be back on Earth after floating around in space for such a long time. I never thought that I would miss Russia so much. Even after going on the Vostok 4 mission, I am still eager to go onto another mission. It is such a thrill going up into space and coming back down to Earth. After my some-what smooth lift off, I have been floating in space for almost a day. Piloting Vostok 4 has been a hassle but I feel it will be much worth it. Life in space is much different but today is going to be an exciting day. Today is the day that I will come less than 5 meters away from Vostok 3, the aircraft launched on the 11th. This moment is going to be one that will go down in history, and be seen as a large part of the Soviets success in the Space Race.
