I think its 50/50 because I think it all depends on the type of person you get involved with. You could get involved with someone who isn't really interested in a girl for their body but how their energy is and how they carry themselves but that's rare now. Or get involved with the guys who don't care about consent or anything like that and just want a girl for their body and don't actually want a real relationship.

It is important because if you are doing something without the consent of somebody, when it requires the consent of somebody, you can get in trouble. Consent could look like a piece of paper that says you are given permission to do a certain thing and it sounds like when someone tells you you can do that certain thing.

Its important because if people decide to do something such as intercourse or any other thing they should always make sure their partner is comfortable with the idea and then they can engage. Consent is probably like someone giving their word or any kind of contract or asking if whether they are comfortable with their decision.

Some teenagers might be, but most teenagers feel awkward or think it is weird.

The TED talk shaped my understanding on what consent is by showing me that sexting is not bad as long as you have consent. This video taught me that, the laws are corrupt that if you even sent a sent a picture of yourself, it would count as child. Yes, not all teens participate in sexting but even if they do, they are shamed and called names. Sexting creates a bigger picture. There needs to be consent in everything, and no one should be shamed or humiliated because they asked for consent or they did something that they enjoyed (willingly). Teens are shamed or anything consent for anything, that is why they are scared to ask anyone on what to do things rightly and they feel insecure or embarrased.

TED talk shaped my understanding of what consent is by I learned that it is ok to engage in sexting as long as you have consent from the parents and the other person. It is also ok to send out private information as long as you share it with a person that is ery trustable and when you have the consent to do it. I think this can say that most teens aren't ready to engage in sexual activity safely and responsibly because I think most teens are not to be trusted with your private information since they can send it out to everybody even without your consent. As said in the video, Jennifer shared something private with her boyfriend who she thought she could trust, he ended up sending that private thing to everybody without getting her consent.

The TED talk helped me understand how important consent is. Nothing should be done with the other person unless he/she gave their consent. Teens have to understand properly what consent means before that engage in any sexual activity. Like the woman in the video had said, Jennifer ended her life just because she trusted the wrong person with her pictures. This shows that teens have no understanding of consent or any respect towards the other person. They aren't mature for this. They need to be taught about consent before they are ready to engage in any activity with their partner so that they can be held responsible for their actions.

For example the woman says that you should ask for permission even if it comes to you forwarding a email thread. This says that teens are somewhat ready to engage in sexual activity and responsibility since it all depends whether their partner would violate their privacy or not.

The TED talk shaped my understanding about consent by showing me that it means asking for permission before engaging to an idea about doing something. It always don't have to be sexual but it also can be about other things. But the important part is no matter what before deciding to do something people should always ask their partners for consent whether they are comfortable with the idea or not. Also sexting is not a bad thing if whoever is involved in it have their consent. Also, in the video she mentioned that the laws about counting a nude photo which can be used against teens as child that can ruin their lives in my opinion I think this Law should change unless the nude is being sent out to people without that person's consent or if people are taking someone's picture and uploading in a inapropriate place. But if two teens are trusting each other and sending nudes with each other's consent law should not be used against them. This could say about teens being "ready" by showing they should always think about and decide and make sure both of them have each other's consent.

This TED talk shaped my understanding about what consent is, my showing me that it is extremely important to do it with someone that you really trust. With people, there can always be mean individuals who send your private information to others, so I believe if you were to engage in sexual activity with another individual, it has to be someone you have known for a long time and that you trust immensly. This can say that some teens are ready and some are not, this is because some teens can trust someone so much, but they would just turn their backs on them.

TED talk shaped my understanding by showing that it's really important that the person you consented to is someone you trust. This says that some teens aren't as ready because the person they consented to could be someone with ulterior motives and they'd have no idea. For example, they could be sending nudes to someone who plans on showing it to their friends and leaving them. This is illegal and it shows that you should be very careful when consenting to someone or something.

The New York age of consent is 17 years old. When a person is 17 or above, they are allowed to engage in sexual activities. If they are not then that person will face legal consequences such as prosecution or statutory 🤬. This tells me that teens aren't mature enough to engage in sexual activities. They might just cause harm to themselves. Their level of understanding hasn't fully developed so isn't safe for them to engage in sexual activities of sexting.

According to NY laws, one must be 17 or older to give consent. However, if under the age of 18, engaging in sexual activity especially with someone older will be considered illegal. This shapes my thinking because it helps me realize that these laws were put in place to keep our youth safe so it is our responsibility to follow it reasonably.
