 The Spirit of the Times was the theme of University of Melbourne's Vice Chancellor's recent speech recognising that institutions like theirs need to change. This session focused on the current thinking around the need to go beyond cognitive curriculum and engage more deeply with 21st Century skills and their assessment. Dr Millighan outlined the need for curriculum and assessment reform and the role of progressions and competency based learning. She raised issues around the role of technology  and detailed the prevalence of Chatbots (eg Jill Watson - Georgia Tech University),the disruption of MOOCs and  what this could mean for students and learning into the future.
