A culture of gift and gifting. Thanks to Angela, I understand the multiple layers of gift (gratitude) and reciprocity (from Kimmerer 'THE SERVICEBERRY: An Economy of Abundance', at: https://emergencemagazine.org/essay/the-serviceberry/)

I understand the value of space of exchange and being during our interview encounter, thanks to Katherine. And the resonating energy of hospitality, of experiencing the 'role' of a guest and a host, one and the other, both together.

Yesterday, I contacted you all, one by one, with a support request. Afterward, I became aware of how utterly challenging and demanding this was. I feel in debts and feel I have made a debit. Reciprocity before a gift arrived?

Here is the space and the place where I can give you a gift.

What each of you receives here:
- one image / or a video of an artwork I created at some place and at some times in my life
- Some references: quotes, links, scanned pages from books.

I assembled everything while thinking of one of you at a time and as a personal gift. Nevertheless, I collected all together in this place (an agora? a public space?) to make it visible.

This is a fabric of a temporal encounters. Whether this is a map or a posistioning (of whom?) remains an open question.

I invite you to browse this place, see, look, think, and feel what else is here.
Personal gifts become community gifts of sharing.

Feel free to comment if you wish

=> scroll to the right, up and down, find your name -- and browse further. However, considering your question some weeks ago "how to become an adult/how to stop worrying about the future". I could envision a space of imagination, a space where imagination and dreams and stories are playful and joyful. I looked back at my work with youth last year, and plans for this year. Incl the figurine (approx length of my fist) above that I made years ago during a deep and severe mental crisis,. This figurine helped me through touch to anchor me, keep calm, feel the ground - and not freak out or dissociate away.

Hi Lae,
my favorite pair partner 'in crime' for this unit ;-) First, thanks again for your generosity in sending me stuff over despite the tremendous expenses you had to bear. Considering your sense of spiritual growth and belonging beyond the sensual world and connecting all together, I was pondering how I could position myself in our mutual space of healing and reverence. The following (incl my painting above) might enable some positioning.

Stefan xx
----------------------

The love of God is so powerful that no one can just sit on it. It is bound to express itself. We have to think not just of praying together but how we can reach out and support each other in helping those in prison, the homeless, the hungry, the oppressed, everyone in need. Above all, direct attention to the most unbearable problem in the world today, which is the destitution of the poor. Jesus said: “The poor you will always have with you.” But destitution is something else. That is our responsibility. It is not God’s will.… The Spirit may be asking the Christian denominations to join forces with each other and with the other world religions in addressing human needs and social issues. The God in us is calling us to serve the God in others.
- Thomas Keating

from: Thomas Keating (2009) The Daily Reader for Contemplative Living: Excerpts from the Works of Father Thomas Keating, O.C.S.O., Sacred Scripture, and Other Spiritual Writings. I feel quite emotional seeing how much thought and care has gone into this Padlet and I also feel the urge to say that it is okay to ask for help/a gift without the need for return. At least in that moment. We give what we can when we can and that is not always an equal process. But I truly admire what you have created here and your thinking around gifting and abundance. I am excited for the tone this is setting... our 'culture of gift and gifting'... long may it continue :) below you will find my provocations to you. It hopefully will chime with some of what you received in the package as a continuation of thought/rabbit trail...
