How can a variable (eg. temperature, wind speed) change overtime in HYSS?
2.What causes the temperature to be different at different places?
3. where is the hottest place in HYSS?
4. When is the best time to open the speaker's corner?
5. Why are some places hotter than others?

We looked at the class notes to understand how to use the instruments like the sling psychrometer.

Online: Rows of trees are planted to provide shelter from the wind. This planting is called windbreak, they are commonly planted around the edges of fields on farms. This planting is in the school field and quadrangle.

Online : As air temperature increases, air can hold more water molecules, and its relative humidity decreases. When temperatures drop, relative humidity increases.

Online : Paved surfaces give off heat from absorbed solar radiation and will cause temperatures to be hotter so it's best to place thermometers over grassy surfaces.

Source: https://sciencing.com/temperature-ampamp-humidity-related-7245642.html
https://www.abc17news.com/weather/sun-vs-shade-temperature/532529209

The temperature of a place can be affected by several factors such as relative humidity.

The data we collected supports our hypothesis, the higher the relative humidity the lower the temperature. At the school field, the average relative humidity is 59.9% and the average temperature is 31.3°C. At the Quadrangle the average relative humidity we got was 58.5% and the average temperature is 32.2°C and at the science garden, the average relative humidity is 59.7% and average temperature is 31.75°C. This proves that our hypothesis is correct and there is no anomaly.

We think that the best place to build a speakers corner is the school field as it is quite spacious as well as has the lowest temperature, and highest wind speedmaking it cooler and more comfortable for the students.

Sling Psychrometer
Relative humidity is measured using a sling psychrometer, which consists of a wet bulb thermometer and a dry bulb thermometer. To calculate:

1.Dip the wick of the wet bulb in water and swing the psychrometer for 1 min.

2.Record the reading. Repeat step 1 until both readings are consistent.

3.Read the temperature off the dry bulb.

4.To obtain the depression of the wet bulb, calculate the difference between the wet bulb temperature and the dry bulb temperatures.

5.Using the conversion table, obtain the relative humidity by finding the value where the wet bulb depression intersects with the dry bulb temperature.
