Adult services in East Sussex Council launching a GPS tracking devise worn externally on the body or clothing to save hundreds of thousands of pounds on helicopters and police searches for missing dementia patients. 

MindMe: Small tracker put on clothing or luggage, GPS

AngelSense: microphone so family can listen in, 

iTraq: Temp sensor, falls sensor, linked with a phone app which can be accessed by user, friends and family. 

 

VeriChip (US): Microchip implanted in the arm, size of a grain of rice. Contains 16 digit ID Code which is scanned at hospital, put into a database and provided medical and contact information. NOT GPS.

BioTeq (UK): Store personal data, medical information, payment system, unlock pc, open doors. NOT GPS.

-  A person with dementia may be at risk for  wandering if he or she:
-  Comes back from a regular walk or drive later than usual 
-  Tries to fulfill former obligations, such as going to work 
-   Tries or wants to "go home" even when at home Is restless, paces or makes repetitive  movements 

-   Has a hard time locating familiar places like the bathroom, bedroom or dining room 

-    Acts as if doing a hobby or chore, but nothing gets done (moves around pots and dirt without actually planting anything) Acts nervous or anxious in crowded areas, such as shopping malls or restaurants
