She then went on a streak of success and discovery until on January 1, 2017, when she passed away.

She got in at NASA and was one of the few selected to start training to become the first female African American astronaut. On September 12, 1992, she did. Then he briefly worked for NASA before returning back to the Military. He then quit and started to design a toy that would go down in history. He was the first ever surgeon to perform open heart surgery which was thought of as impossible at the time.  Daniel was one of 3 African Americans to graduate with an M.D. degree in 1883 at the Chicago School of Medical.  In 1889, he was appointed to the Illinois State Board of Health which helped establish safer medical rules for hospitals. in 1891, he founded the Provident Hospital and Nursing Training School which would help train new African American doctors and nurses to perform many successful treatments.  
In 1896, a new hospital was opened that was completely run by volunteers. He retired in 1926, then passed away in 1931.
