Kolb's experiential learning cycle is a four stage process that describes a four stage process of how we acquire and embed new knowledge. The theory embraces the idea that we change as a result of experience, reflection, conceptualization and experimentation. Kolb's Learning cycle involves four stages, namely: concrete learning(feeling), reflective observation(watching), abstract conceptualisation(thinking), and active experimentation(doing). effective reflection can be guaranteed when a learner goes through these cycles.
This learning cycle allows us to promote reflection on ourselves and self led learning. It is more than trial and error but when embraced and guided it is a way learners constructing their own knowledge and solutions.

When you indulge in habitual thinking, when you have no way of seeing your thoughts in a detached way, what you call reflection really means self-affirmation. The first step to reflection is to be able to see yourself in turn. If you can't separate from your own thinking, you can't be truly reflective. The Knowing

The Gibbs reflective cycle is a reflection cycle that involves six stages: description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion and action plan.

The gibbs cycle can be used for reflection by following the six steps in order. First description, Be specific, concise, and relevant. usually you can describe the situation in detail using 5 w’s. Secondly, feelings, think about how you were feeling and what you were doing. There are three parts to feeling: feeling before, feeling during, and feeling after.. Third evaluation, this is where you evaluate what worked and what didn't. Fourth is analysis, and this is where you should spend most of your time reflecting. Analysis would explain why the experience was positive or negative, you're basically making sense of the situation. Then you draw out your conclusion, what was learned and what can be done next time. Finally comes an action plan, this is where you think what can be changed for similar situations in the future or changes in general.

References: https://www.ed.ac.uk/reflection/reflectors-toolkit/reflecting-on-experience/gibbs-reflective-cycle

https://www.mindtools.com/pages/article/reflective-cycle.htm
