This article discusses research looking at childhood gender identity and its relation to play & toy selection (an example of gender schema theory). It also shares ways parents can impact children's developing gender stereotype knowledge and identity (an example of the sociocultural explanation for gender development).

During the film Grease, teenagers Sandy & Danny both explore new identities, in line with Erikson's ideas. Sandy looks beyond the "goody-two-shoes" identity she's had up until moving to the U.S. Danny tries to expand his "bad boy/goof-off" persona. And this is where they are at the end of the movie!

My brother-in-law is a perfect example of this experience reported by some middle-aged adults. He is currently helping to care for both of his parents (each with varying degrees of dementia). Both of his daughters also still live at home - one is a freshman in college, the other a junior in HS. He has care-giving responsibilities on both "sides."

This is Catie, it won't let me change if from Anonymous. My example is about myself, and what my mom told me about when I was a baby. I started walking at 7 months old which is very young, the book states that most babies learn to walk around their first birthday or after. I also skipped a developmental step in that I never crawled (which really ticked my mom off because she said that was a cute stage). The book says that babies first learn to roll over, then sit up, then crawl, then pull themselves up, then walk. I think it's just kind of weird that I skipped a developmental stage.

this experiment done by Yale the babies were to choose which puppet was "naught" and which puppet was "nice", the experiment was repeated 14-16 times, after the choice was done based on watch the good puppet help another get up the hill, 80% of the kids chose the helpful puppet over the other one, in other words the development of good and bad starts at a very young age from what i understood.
https://youtu.be/HBW5vdhr_PA

This is Kaitlyn. In the modules, it was mentioned that most adolescents end up with different friends in eighth grade than they had in seventh grade. This happened to me exactly. I had a different group of friends in seventh, eighth, and ninth grade, and a different "identity" or "image" each year as well. Now, I'm just confused, and I find it quite funny. While I am more emotionally stable and secure compared to just a year ago, it still feels like a roller-coaster. It is all just part of the developmental process, I suppose!
