Italy unification

After the fall of the Roman empire Italy was separated into independent states. Italy was "unified" for a short period of time while France had power over them. Then shortly after separated again. The Italian state lost control over Rome when war broke out. But later in the distractions of the war they won it back.

The unification of Italy was also known as Risorgimento. The Italian state wasn't wasn't unified yet they were more like small kingdoms. They had a hard time unifying because they had so many different rulers. But the ruler that ended up taking over various different Italian states would become the leader or the territories he took/fought for.

They expanded into Uruguay. The independence war was 2 years long . The Prince named Pedro claimed independence. They used slaves in their army after being ruled by the Portuguese Empire.

Prussia was a German speaking state that was the most involved in the unification. They had many raw materials, a strong economy, and a modern army. King William made Otto von Bismarck Prussia's ruler in 1862. With Bismarck as ruler he started wars with Denmark, Austria, and France. They also had a second unification in 1990 after the end of the Cold War.

The independence compromised a series of military and political events. Lead to the independence of Brazil from the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and the Algarve's as the Brazil and Portugal. The invasion of the peninsula by Napoleon triggered the independence.

Germanys empire started when most of the German speaking states in Europe came together under the ruler of Prussia. Germanys unification was made official in the Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles. Prussia was the dominate force in the German Empire until 1918. They were about 3/5 of the population, so majority of the people and even land.
