He is shown to be the strength of the farm and thus the reason why the rebellion is working from the outset, as Snowball builds on Old Major's words,

"Boxer will never be worked to death again", however, this changes when a selfish leader takes power once more, in the form of Napoleon.

Boxer works harder that he had done before under Snowball and Napoleon than Farmer Jones. "Boxer with his tremendous muscles always pulled them through."

This shows that Boxer was determined to work hard for the cause as he believed in the rebellion and it's leaders, the pigs.

This led to his downfall as he worked too hard and was injured because of it, he was then sold off for alcohol.

He was naive to trust the 'clever' pigs and was eventually betrayed by Napoleon, even though most work was completed because of him.

These connote he had the power to control the animals to overthrow the pigs if he wanted, but he doesn't have the mental capacity to know what he needs to do.

Boxer was sent off as he was using resources that the pigs felt would be better spent on the animals that could work.

Even though Boxer is the hardest worker, he is never rewarded but his naivety gets the better of his perception of the greedy pigs.
