Operation Barbarossa was on June 22, 1941 this was the invasion of the Soviet Union by the Nazis. There were a bunch of soldiers who froze to death in the cold, more than 100,000 German soldiers either fell, froze or even starved to death. The Battle ended on Dec 5, 1941 this Battle ended because the Russians struck back with a counter attack against the Germans bringing the Battle to an end.

The Battle of Stalingrad happened in the Russian Soviet and Volgograd this Battle lasted 6 months and in this Battle the Soviet union defeated the German army this Battle also stopped the Germans from basically getting more of an advantage on the Soviet union, but the soviet union stopped them. The Battle lasted until Feb 2, 1943 .
