Choose one of the prompts I provided in the powerpoint and examine it in greater depth. Then, in the format of your choosing, write a brief piece that connects back to that prompt

Ex. What construct of our current social milieu has or may influence your writing?

I would say that the political climate of North America has definitely impacted my perspective on the importance of politics, even to the younger generation. The anti-feminist, anti-equalist attitude of our neighbors particularly in regards to the political correctness of our own country will definitely impact my future writings, particularly in the dystopian worlds that I have already began to explore.

“Tyrant! Wicked pompous fool!” Deana’s fist began to shake, her knuckles going white.

“Did you expect anything else?” My hands, starkly different from Deana’s, were black with soot. To be oppressed was nothing I had not already become accustomed to, for those such as Deana it was an alien spectrum of neglect. Those showered in opportunity and praise reduced to entry level jobs, because that is what he declared and that is what must be.

“Why have we sat and refused to pressure the man who has brought us such misery?”

“Deana, such is life,” a stubborn shake of the head, wisps of hair falling down to her shoulders.

“I neglect that. We are part of minorities, different minorities. No, not minorities, inferiorities, or at least in the eyes of the Chancellor. Let us usurp him. For while we may be lacking numbers individually, together we surpass the population of those he has paved a privileged life for. No man must spew such hatred and live to see the world follow suit!”

“What you suggest is regicide!”

“Not regicide Fredrick, to commit regicide is to assassinate a monarch, a governor we have no say in choosing. To assassinate a Chancellor is a revolt against not one but many. Supremacists, who are the reason such a revolting man shall hold such significance.”

I had begun to sweat profusely not from the heat of the coal but the topic of our conversation.

“Let us speak of this no more. Now is hardly the time or place.”

You’re response does not have to be long or as serious as the one I have provided as an example. Simply write about what the prompt inspired. Please reach out if you are in any way confused.
