Advice: Teach to the test ( start with assesment and look back)

Advice: Build relationships ( give nicknames build connections), Address families, work with students. Talk about how class is suppose to function for the first few months with clear expectations
Bring in other things besides curriculum, give them chances to open up thier mind

Smarter not harder: Rubrics, dont have to have massive amounts of work find ways to use different assessments that are for a grade.
advice: Do not try to wing it at the beggining of the year. Have routines and procedures done right away.
must read: Learning by doing book, Excellence in a classroom, pedagogy podcast, reads lots of leadership books ( think again) listen to leadership gurus.

Asessments types: Hands on/ fast and easy and having them have a tool kit of thier own
Uses first month to practice routine on how the classroom works and continue practicing
Smarter not Harder: Set boundaries for my self and do work for the previous day. Work ahead, use teachers
Advice: Be extra nice to the custodian and other cleaners. Listens to your team and your co workers and take a risk and try something. STAY OFF YOUR PHONE. Do not take yourself too seriously/ you will mess up/ LEAVE YOUR HOME PROBLEMS AT THE DOOR. my best day when you are here

Assessment: Can students apply knowledge, can they show me what i am trying to learn.
They can show it in thier own way to show what they learned.
Devices: Planning of lessons of what the week will look like. ( look at standards closely) Teach everyone else what they just learned Assesments are always open ended
Smarter not Harder: Real important to go slow to start with. Take peices at a time and sooner or later it becomes a routine. Smallest thing I can do that makes the biggest impact. Look at things instead as a compass instead of a map.
Advice: Know and care about your kids, build relationships ( helps parents comfort level)

go to assesments: Small groups/one on one. how to challenge students to enrich thier vocabulary

Smarter not Harder: Be a team! Divide and conquer. You have leaders in your classroom, use them ( Students in your classroom)

Advice: taking the time to know your students is always worth it. Eveery Kid has something that they love, go out and support them. Hard to have hard conversation with parents but they will respect you for doing it. Make a relationship with your staff team

Assessment: is an Estimation of the qaulity of something/snapshot of the kid of that particular kid on that specefic day.

No valid assessments only valid interuptations.

Smarter not Harder: You have to have a process that everyone is aware about. Have a framework on how you on going to use assessment and otherthings and stick to it.
