In the 1920s, Germany and France signed the Treaty of Locarno, in which they promised not to return to war and to respect borders. This led to Germany's admission to the League of States. In 1928, the Keloso-Briond Pact, which involved almost all countries, promised to renounce the war, although it lacked enforcement mechanisms, which weakened its peace efforts. It's important because Hitler knows that not everyone wants to fight for a war.

During the Great Depression of 1929 to 1939, millions of people worldwide lost their jobs or their farms. At first the unemployed had to depend on the charity of others for food, clothing and shelter. Many made their home in makeshift shacks. Local governments and charities opened soup kitchens to provide free food.

The conflict devastated Spain and ultimately led to a Nationalist victory in 1939, establishing Franco’s dictatorship for decades.

This event signed in August of 1939, was a deal between Germany and the Soviet union agreeing that they wouldn't attack each other. This was surprising because the two countries had very different beliefs and had been enemies the pact also secretly divided parts of Europe between them, including Poland, so each could control each land without fighting each other over it.

This event is important to history because the Nazi-Soviet Nonaggression Pact was important because it allowed Germany and the Soviet Union to avoid fighting each other, which gave both countries time to expand their power. This deal shocked many people, as Germany and the Soviet Union had very different ideas and were not allies before. The pact secretly divided parts of Eastern Europe, including Poland, between them, so they could each take land without conflict. By agreeing to this, Germany was free to invade Poland without Soviet interference, which led to Britain and France declaring war on Germany and starting World War II. This pact also allowed the Soviet Union to take control of parts of Eastern Europe, increasing its influence.
