Student led learning was definitely something I was already interested in, as well as executing in my classroom. However, I was simply doing so in a manner that was for lack of a better term "shooting from the hip". That is to say, I did not have a real plan in mind, I just thought student participation was important and tried to make sure students were as involved as possible. However, during the production and creation of this story board, I really got a sense of how to take the time to sit down and plan student led interactions with clarity and conciseness. I got the big idea behind the idea of student participation in terms of creating a sense of student led equity and involvement in my classroom. Specifically I focused on unique learning styles as well as individual student advocacy and the process of creating this brought a lot of great big concepts into sharp focus. Once again, the big takeaway here for me was the idea that having the concept of individualized student achievement is great, but one needs to create a real concrete plan that they are able to execute on these ideas for. This was clear to me in the creation of a case study for an imaginary student. One of the things that really caught me as a big idea was the concept of restorative justice and how necessary an idea it is in the modern classroom. Most folks my age grew up with schools that worked more with punitive justice where punishment was at the forefront of the consideration for justice. It was helpful to zoom out and see the big picture here: Who gets hurt when identity isn't something I consider in the creation of my curriculum? 

As someone who works at an arts dominant school, the majority of my students have varied identities that are as complex as the individual itself.
