It was characterized by the hellish suffrage and atrocities taken place by the Nazi Germany with most of the globe having to unite in order to put an end to it. It caused the downfall of totalitarian regimes. Post war, the world had came together and created international frameworks in order to prevent horrific events like the one in WW2 from ever happening again, causing the establishment of United Nations and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

In Sarajevo, Bosnia on June 28, 1914, Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary was assassinated by Bosnian Serb nationalist which caused the pre-existing tensions in the region to snap. Austria-Hungary held Serbia responsible for the assassination and when Serbia respond it was deemed by Austria-Hungary unsatisfactory leading the nation to declare war on Serbia. This cause a domino effect to happen because of the alliances that these nations had made caused it to not be their problem, but the entire globe's problem, becoming WW1.

Adolf Hitler was the dictator of Nazi Germany from 1934 to 1945. He quickly rose to power as the leader in the Nazi party, advocating extreme nationalism, racism, and anti-Semitism. His regime caused WW2 where almost the whole globe united together in order to stop Hitler and his rain. He created the Holocaust to exterminate the Jew causing the systemic murders of over 6 million Jews. After Germany was defeated by the Allies, Hitler committed suicide in Berlin. His terrible legacy still remains and is forever tied to the horrors of genocide and the danger of unchecked authoritarianism.
