The song plan will be in a minor key to reflect this with faster bpm and drum beats with a bassier sound (almost dance music like but still very rock) and heavy guitar riffs.

This song will be in a major key and will be softer and quieter to capture the essence of this. More piano focused with that being the driving focal point for the song. minimal guitar.

This songs key will be either major or minor this is undecided but I want it to be a guitar focused track that chops and changes throughout to convey the mixed emotions and racing thoughts.

I want this song to be in a major key and very upbeat and hopeful. I will use more electronic sounds with the help of logics sounds and complex drum beats to convey this. I want this to sound more cut back while also sounding full much like your eyes are open and you can clearer than before.

This week I started off with the song Asterius but I really struggled to get the sound I was after so I put it down and picked up Orpheus instead.

This was a good call as I found Orpheus flew out of me luke I had been waiting to write it my whole life.

Orpheus - The Muse tackles the inner struggle of doubt and deception and warped reality. It is a piano focused travk with multiple piano channels to convey every emotion of the story. It is in 3/4 to resemble a waltz. The character im writing about is interanally screaming hence why I added in intentional voice cracks and a more raw sounding vocal.

This week I started the second song Caeneus. Caeneus was about my inner and outer struggle with my trans identity and I actually really struggled to write about that as it felt like I was exposing myself. I rewrote the song twice before I was finally happy. The song is in a major key but with the vocals sounds rather dark which is to directly reflect my conflicting feelings on identity. I still struggle with liking and then hating the song and I think that's the point. It's vulnerable exposing my views to a world full of critics.

Most of my project has been more about the feeling of the songs and the emotional attachment rather than showing skill in particular instruments as I myself never really connect to music unless I feel an emotion is evoked.

This week I decided to come back to Asterius with fresh ears and eyes. The song has taken a more punk route especially with the drums being the driving force behind it. The song is resentful and angry and I wanted the drums and vocals to add to this so the vocals on this song as pushed through a fuzz pedal to achieve that sound. I also decided to do the entire song on bass guitar in octaves as I wanted a darker sound and guitar simply wasn't cutting it. I think this may be man favourite song on the EP and I am glad I didn't give up on it.

The final.

This week I was working on my last and final song (for now) Alcyone - The Halcyon Days. This song is about overcoming obstacles, love and tragedy and still having hope for a future. This song was actually the hardest to write originally with me stopping and starting quite a lot due to not grasping how I really wanted it to sound and battling for if I wanted lyrics or not. I finally settled on the song being more lofi and heavy use of synths with some bass as the may focus, I wanted a dreamlike beach sound which I think I achieved. I decided to add lyrics that heavily reflect to the myth itself with a lot of bird imagery and a lot of references to the sea. (In the myth Alcyone and Sexy become Halcyons (kingfishers) and every winter her father clears the skies for a few days for her to come and lay her nest and eggs.)

This EP has been uploaded to both soundcloud and youtube and shared amongst family, friends and the general public. Each song has an insight into the lyrics and meaning of the song if you click the 'behind this track' button.

This week I wanted to rerecord the guitar for Caeneus. Only to discover the entire project inaccessible so I took the plunge and invited Brooklyn to help start the song from scratch again. We found the correct BPM for the sound I wanted and we started with figuring out chord arrangement before recording guitar and vocals together and then onto the drums.
