THE ADVANTAGES OF AL-QURAN

Al-Quran is a book filled with words that comes from Allah himself or Kalamullah. Humans should make al-Quran as their guidance in their life because al-Quran consists of everything people need from A-Z. Taking al-Quran as their guidance would ensure happiness and peace in their life because they follow what Allah had told them to do and Allah never lies.

Mutabaah Amal

It's a way for a Muslim to track their religious good deeds.

Think of it like a spiritual to-do list or a habit tracker, but for your faith.

This may seem like a tough thing to do, but with consistency and determination, slowly but surely anyone can do it.

We learned about hadith jibril about Islam, Iman and Ihsan and the connection with manners in learning. Then we learned about pillars of faith. These two topics were explained by bro Affan and bro Harraz.

HADITH JIBRIL : ISLAM, IMAN AND IHSAN

It was narrated on the authority of Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). The Hadith talks about;

1. Islam - The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "Islam is that you should testify that there is no deity except Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger, that you should perform salah, pay the Zakah, fast during Ramadan, and perform Hajj to the House, if you are able to do so."

2. Iman - He (the Messenger of Allah) answered, "It is that you believe in Allah and His angels and His Books and His Messengers and in the Last Day, and in qadar (fate), both in its good and in its evil aspects."

3. Ihsan - He (the Messenger of Allah) answered, "It is that you should serve Allah as though you could see Him, for though you cannot see Him yet (know that) He sees you."

Connection with learning:

• We must learn with all our heart

• We must learn for ourselves and not to show to others

• we must learn like Allah is watching us even though we cannot see Allah.

The Hadith of Gabriel is a very important hadith because it summarizes the foundations of Islam in three main things: Islam, Faith, and Ihsan.

Summary of the Hadith: One day the angel Gabriel came in the form of a man whose clothes were very white, his hair very black, and he did not show any traces of travel. He sat facing the Prophet ﷺ, close until his knees met, then asked several questions:

1. About Islam - The Prophet ﷺ replied:

-Testifying that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah

-Establishing prayer

-Paying zakat

- Fasting Ramadan

-Performing the Hajj if he is able

2. About Faith - The Prophet ﷺ replied:

- Believing in Allah

- His angels

- His books

- His messengers

- The Day of Judgment

- Qada' and qadar, the good and the bad

3. About Ihsan - The Prophet ﷺ replied:

“You worship Allah as if you see Him. If you cannot see Him, then be sure that He sees you.”

Connection of Hadith Jibril with the Etiquette of Seeking Knowledge

1.Eagerness in seeking knowledge

- Jibril came in the form of a man, sitting directly in front of the Prophet ﷺ.

- This shows seriousness and determination in learning.

A student should attend with a true desire to understand, not half-heartedly.

2. Listening attentively

- After asking, Jibril listened quietly to the Prophet’s answers.
Students should listen carefully without interrupting the teacher.

Introduction

We learn about the 3 pillars of man which is

belief in Allah, belief in angels and belief in divine books.

1. Belief in Allah (Tawhid)

• To believe in the existence, oneness, and uniqueness of Allah.

• Allah has no partner, no equal, and nothing resembles Him.

• Worship only Allah and avoid associating partners with Him (no shirk).

• To believe in the existence of angels who are created from light.

ADAB DALAM MENUNTUT ILMU

In our discussion with my group we got two of the benefits when we apply manners in learning which are easier us to the heaven from Allah and get high rank in the sight or Allah.Example for the good manners is have a teacher,dress neatly,sit closer to the teacher, and avoid speaking about what isnt known.

Get the high rank level in the sight of Allah:

يَرْفَعِ اللَّـهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنكُمْ وَالَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْعِلْمَ دَرَجَاتٍ

Maksudnya: “Supaya Allah SWT meninggikan darjat orang-orang yang beriman di antara kamu, dan orang-orang yang diberi ilmu pengetahuan Agama (daripada kalangan kamu) dengan beberapa darjat”. [al-Mujadalah:11]

Easier for us to the heaven from Allah:

مَنْ سَلَكَ طَرِيقًا يَلْتَمِسُ فِيهِ عِلْمًا، سَهَّلَ اللهُ لَهُ بِهِ طَرِيقًا إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ

Maksudnya: “Barangsiapa yang menempuh satu jalan untuk menuntut ilmu maka Allah SWT akan memudahkan baginya jalan untuk ke Syurga.

to conclude,we should guard our manner in learning to get the blessings from Allah in learning which is the one of the good ibadah.

6 PILLARS OF IMAN

1. Belief in Allah (Iman billah)

To believe Allah exists, is One (Tawhid), has no partners, and is the only one worthy of worship.

Created from light, they obey Allah completely (e.g., Jibril – brings revelation, Israfil – blows the trumpet, Malik – guardian of Hell).

3. Belief in the Books of Allah (Iman bil-kutub)

Divine scriptures revealed to prophets:

Zabur (Dawud),

Belief in Qada’ and Qadar means having faith that everything that happens in this universe — whether good or bad, big or small — is already known, written, and willed by Allah ﷻ. Nothing occurs outside His knowledge and power.

Belief in Rasul and Anbiya’ means having faith that Allah ﷻ sent prophets (anbiya’) and messengers (rusul) to guide mankind with revelation, teaching them how to worship Allah and live righteously.

Anbiya’ (Prophets): Chosen men who received revelation but were not always commanded to spread it widely.

Rusul (Messengers): Prophets who were given revelation and commanded to deliver it to their people.

Prophets bring revelation to show us the correct way of life, since human reason alone is not enough.

BELIEF IN HERE AFTER

What is Mutabaah Amal?

Mutāba‘ah al-‘Amal means performing good deeds and acts of worship by following the way of Rasulullah ﷺ. The word mutāba‘ah means “following” while ‘amal means “action or deed.” In Islam, every deed will only be accepted by Allah if it meets two conditions: sincerity (ikhlās), which means the deed is done only for Allah, and mutāba‘ah, which means the deed is in accordance with the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ.

Hadith Jibril

Relation to Islam, Iman, and Ihsan

• Islam (Practices): Refers to the outward actions of a Muslim (the five pillars: shahadah, prayer, zakat, fasting, hajj). These are the foundation of practicing the religion.

• Iman (Belief): Refers to the inner faith and conviction in Allah, the unseen, and destiny. It is the foundation of belief in the heart.

• Ihsan (Spiritual Excellence): Refers to the highest level, where one worships Allah with full sincerity and consciousness, feeling His presence at all times.

Together, Islam (actions), Iman (belief), and Ihsan (spiritual excellence) form the complete structure of the religion. This hadith, often called Hadith Jibril, is considered a summary of the entire religion of Islam.

Adab in Learning from Hadith Jibril

1. Sitting with Respect:

Jibril sat close to the Prophet ﷺ, with knees touching and hands on his lap. This shows humility and respect toward the teacher.

2. Appearance Matters:

He came in clean white clothes and neat appearance, symbolizing the importance of presenting oneself properly when seeking knowledge.

3. Asking with Clarity:

He asked direct and clear questions about Islam, Iman, Ihsan, and the Hour. This shows that good students ask purposeful questions, not random or unnecessary ones.

4. Listening Attentively:

He listened carefully to the Prophet’s answers and confirmed them by saying “You are right.” This shows active listening and confirming understanding.

5. Seeking Knowledge for the Benefit of Others:

Jibril already knew the answers but asked so that the companions (students) could learn. This shows that sometimes questions are asked not only for personal benefit but also for the benefit of the whole class/community.

6. Knowledge Must Lead to Action:

The hadith is not just theory — Islam (practice), Iman (belief), and Ihsan (sincerity) must be lived. Adab in learning means applying what is learned in daily life.

Hadith Jibril – The Pillars of Islam

Background

Imam al-Nawawi collected 40 Hadith (Al-Arba'in al-Nawawiyyah) to guide Muslims towards becoming better believers.

During the Prophet’s era, if someone was not recognized by the community, they were often assumed to be a traveler (musafir).

The Hadith of Jibril is considered the foundation of Islam as it covers Islam, Iman, and Ihsan, as well as the signs of the Last Day.

Main Teachings of the Hadith

Islam (Pillars of Practice – Syariah)

Islam is built on five pillars:

Salah (prayer) is the central purpose of life. Other activities such as work and study are secondary and should support worship.

Imam al-Shafi‘i said: “Prayer is a gift for the ummah of Muhammad and a source of rest for the human soul from stress and pressure.”

Voluntary (sunnah) prayers complete and perfect the shortcomings in obligatory prayers.

The Prophet ﷺ said: “If a person performs ablution and heads to the mosque solely for prayer, every step he takes is rewarded.”

On the Day of Judgment, Salah will be the first deed judged. If it is sound, the rest of the deeds will be accepted. If it is lacking, other deeds will not benefit.

Qadr (Divine decree, both good and bad)

1.Sincerity (Ikhlas)

Intend to seek knowledge purely for the sake of Allah, not for showing off, fame, or worldly gain.

Show manners to teachers by listening attentively, not interrupting, and valuing their guidance.

3.Respecting Knowledge and Books

Handle books and learning materials with care.

Avoid placing them in inappropriate places or using them disrespectfully.

4.Humility

Remain humble and avoid arrogance, even after gaining knowledge.

Accept corrections from teachers and peers.

The Six Pillars of Iman

1.Belief in Allah

To have firm faith that Allah is the One and Only God.

He has no partners, no equals, and possesses perfect attributes.

2.Belief in Angels

Angels are unseen creations of Allah who always obey Him.

Each angel has specific duties, such as Jibril (delivering revelation), Mikail (providing sustenance), Israfil (blowing the trumpet on the Day of Judgment), and Azrael (taking souls).

Today,we once again gather at Lrb21 to hear what our UA will present.After listening to the presentation,what I really take from this topic is that khushu’ in solat doesn’t just magically happen when we stand on the prayer mat,it actually starts way before that. It makes me realise how things like rushing wuduk, praying while distracted, or letting my mind wander with dunia stuff can slowly kill the calm in solat. When the speaker talks about preparing ourselves properly,cleaning up, praying on time, understanding what we’re reciting,it feels very real and relatable, because most of us struggle with focus. It reminds me that solat isn’t just a routine movement, but a moment where I’m actually standing in front of Allah, and the more effort I put into preparing, the more meaningful and peaceful the solat feels.

• Will: Everything happens by Allah’s permission and will; humans only plan, but Allah decides.

Ihsan (Excellence in Faith)

• Surah An-Nahl, verse 90: Ihsan means doing all kinds of good deeds.

• Surah Al-Isra’, verses 23–24: Worship only Allah, do not associate partners with Him, and be kind to your parents.

• Even in killing (such as during war), there must be ihsan.

• When slaughtering an animal, the knife should be sharpened to avoid cruelty.

Eschatology (Study of the End of Times)

• Definition: The study of expectations about the end of human history.

• Minor Signs of the End Times

• Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) was sent as the last prophet.

• The number of women will be more than men.

• Earthquakes will increase.

• His name will be Muhammad bin Abdullah.

Dajjal (Antichrist)

Story of Tamim ad-Dari (before he became Muslim):

He was on a ship with others, a storm drove them to an island. They saw a strange hairy creature that could not be distinguished as head or tail. This creature led them to a cave where they met a giant man with curly hair, chained with iron.

• The giant asked about:

  Baisan’s date trees (still bearing fruit at that time).

• Lake Tiberias (Sea of Galilee) (then full, now drying).

• Zughar’s spring (once full, later drying).

• The Prophet who cannot read or write

• (Muhammad ﷺ), and whether his people believed in him. Tamim answered that some rejected him, even his own tribe.

• Dajjal cannot enter Makkah and Madinah because they are protected by angels.

• Dajjal returns young every 100 years.

• Born 100 years before Prophet Musa (a.s.).

• Born blind in one eye.

Al-Mahdi

Abu Buraidah (RA) said:

He came in clean white clothes and neat appearance, symbolizing the importance of presenting oneself properly when seeking knowledge.

3. Asking with Clarity:

He asked direct and clear questions about Islam, Iman, Ihsan, and the Hour. This shows that good students ask purposeful questions, not random or unnecessary ones.

4. Listening Attentively:

He listened carefully to the Prophet’s answers and confirmed them by saying “You are right.” This shows active listening and confirming understanding.

5. Seeking Knowledge for the Benefit of Others:

Jibril already knew the answers but asked so that the companions (students) could learn. This shows that sometimes questions are asked not only for personal benefit but also for the benefit of the whole class/community.

In our discussion with my group we got two of the benefits when we apply manners in learning which are easier us to the heaven from Allah and get high rank in the sight or Allah.Example for the good manners is have a teacher,dress neatly,sit closer to the teacher, and avoid speaking about what isnt known.

- This pillar encompasses the belief in both the good and bad of divine destiny, meaning that Allah has preordained all things. 

-Allah have written every storyline of every ummah from the beginning and is stored in Luh Mahfuz

Belief in Rasul and Anbiya

-Muslims believe in all the prophets sent by Allah, including the final prophet, Muhammad (peace be upon him)

-Prophets were sent to earth with one purpose, which is to guide human to the right path.

-There are 25 prophets that we as a muslim should at least know.

Belief in Hereafter

-This is the belief in the Day of Resurrection, life after death, and the accountability for one's deeds. 

-We as a Muslim must believe that hereafter will happen and thus we shall need to be prepare for it

-We could never know the exact date for it, so we must filled ourselves with good deeds to be rewarded with jannah and not hell.

• In Islam, Ihsan is the highest level of worship and moral excellence.

Ihsan and Eschatology

Ihsan: Doing every act with sincerity and excellence, believing that Allah sees us. It is the highest level of faith.

Eschatology: Belief in life after death. from the soul’s journey, resurrection, judgment, to paradise or hell. It reminds Muslims to do good and avoid sin.

Signs of the Day of Judgment

Minor signs: dishonesty, immorality, wars, tall buildings, loss of knowledge, and neglecting prayers.

Major signs: Dajjal, return of Isa (AS), Ya’juj and Ma’juj, landslides, sun rising from west, Dabbah, smoke, and great fire.

Belief in Qada' and Qadar (Pre-Destination of Good and Evil)

Belief in pre-destination (Qada' and Qadar) is one of the pillars of faith in Islam, without which a person is not a believer. This belief is implied by Allah's attribute of nourishing and sustaining the whole universe.

Definitions

* Al-Qadar literally means knew, predetermined, and planned perfectly, relating to things before they happen. Technically, it refers to Allah's complete Knowledge written in the Safe Tablet, His Will existing before all things, and His creation of all things happening by His Command and Will.

* Al-Qada' literally means judged, ordained, and executed perfectly. It is when the planned things actually happen.

Four Components of Qada' and Qadar

The Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama'ah state that Allah's decree has four components:

* Knowledge: Believing with total certainty that Allah has knowledge of everything—the minute and general details of all that happens, whether by His own doing or by His creatures. Allah knows what has happened, what is happening now, what will happen, and what would have happened if something didn't.

* Writing: Believing that Allah has written all His knowledge of the fate of His creatures in the Preserved Tablet (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz).

* Will: Believing that Allah wills the presence or absence of everything, and nothing can exist without His Will. True faith is not complete without the belief that Allah's Will is total and all-embracing.

* Creation: Believing that Allah is the Creator of everything and anything, including death and life, the skies, mountains, and all living organisms.

Benefits of Belief

This belief provides:

* Peace of mind and contentment, even in the face of hardship.

* Focus on one's present actions rather than the past or future.

* The willpower and determination to go forward in the way of Allah.

* Lessons to be modest, humble, and content.

* Total dependence upon Allah after taking all necessary precautions and doing one's best.

* The establishment of good manners and the elimination of bad ones, such as envy and jealousy.

Belief in the Hereafter (Life After Death)

Belief in life after death, or the Hereafter, is the fifth article of Islamic Faith, and a person is not a believer without it.

Definition

Belief in the Hereafter requires believing that:

* The life of this world will end on the appointed day called al-Qiyamah (the Last Day), and everything will be annihilated.

* All people who have ever lived will be brought back to life (al-Hashr, or Resurrection) and presented before God for judgment.

* The entire record of every person's deeds and transgressions will be presented for final judgment.

* The successful will be rewarded with Paradise (eternal bliss), and the condemned will be sent to Hell (the abode of fire and torture).

Effects of Belief

This belief is a fundamental part of a Muslim's life and:

* Demonstrates the completeness and greatness of Allah's Names and Attributes.

* Increases the love for meeting Allah, which will be the greatest joy a believer experiences in the Hereafter.

* Establishes fear from Allah (awareness of His sovereignty).

* Supports a Muslim in hastening towards good deeds.

* Aids in patience during times of hardship by renewing hope, relieving pains, and coping with difficulties.

Belief in Rasul and Anbiya' (The Messengers and Prophets)

Belief in Allah's Messengers (Rasul) and Prophets (Anbiya') is a necessity in Islam. It is required to have implicit faith in all the Prophets of God; one who disbelieves in a single Prophet is considered a disbeliever (Kafir).

Definition of Belief in Rasul

Belief in Rasul includes:

* A firm belief that Allah sent a messenger to every nation to call them to worship Allah alone (Tawhidullah).

* Belief that all messengers were truthful, trustworthy, and righteous servants who conveyed Allah's message in full.

* Following the laws of the Final Prophet, Muhammad (SAW), who was sent to all mankind.

The Message and Obedience

* All Prophets brought the same core message of al-Tawhid (Oneness of God).

* Obedience to the Prophet in religious matters is tantamount to obedience to Allah SWT, and disobedience to him is disobedience to Allah.

Necessities of the Messengers

Prophets are necessary to convey Allah's guidance to mankind because they:

* Guide humanity from the worship of created beings to the worship of their Creator.

* Clarify the purpose of creation—worshipping God and obeying His commands—and that this life is a test.

* Show the right path to Paradise and salvation from Hellfire.

* Establish proof against humanity so people cannot claim ignorance on the Day of Judgment.

* Uncover the unseen 'world' (e.g., knowledge of God, angels, Day of Judgment).

* Provide practical examples (lifestyle models) for humans to lead moral, righteous lives, as people naturally admire and imitate fellow human beings.

The Prophet Muhammad's Exemplary Lifestyle

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) possessed a virtuous character and is the best example for mankind to follow. Examples of his life to emulate include:

* Gratitude: Giving thanks to Allah and expressing appreciation to anyone who extends kind gestures, stating, "He who is not grateful to man is not grateful to Allah".

* Tolerance: Making things easy for people and not difficult.

* Repentance: Constantly seeking forgiveness from Allah, even though prophets are free from sin.

* Equality: Establishing a religion based on racial equality, where only piety and God-fearingness determine honor.

* Patience: Believing that no one can give a better or more abundant gift than patience.

* Humility: Avoiding arrogance, which is defined as rejecting the truth and looking down on people.

These values and attributes lead to peace and tranquility with one's Lord, self, and humanity.

Al-Ihsan (Religious Excellence) and Islamic Eschatology (The Study of the Afterlife).

Al-Ihsan (Religious Excellence)

Al-Ihsan is the concept of achieving religious excellence, where a Muslim's will and the Will of Allah are perfectly aligned. It is the highest level in the trilogy of Islam: Islām (submission), Iman (faith), and Ihsan (excellence).

Definition of Ihsan

* Linguistic Meaning: Derived from the Arabic word hasana (حسن), meaning "to be good" or "to beautify". It also indicates benevolence, the performance of good conduct, and acts of mercy.

* Technical Meaning (Hadith of Jibril): Ihsan is "to worship Allah as if you see Him, for though you cannot see Him yet (know that) He sees you".

* Hierarchical Position: The one who achieves this degree, the Muhsin, is higher in rank than the Mu'min (believer) and the Muslim (one who submits).

Application of Ihsan

Ihsan is a comprehensive term that is not limited to worship but should rule a person's behavior in every sphere of life. It means going beyond the minimum requirement in quality and quantity, which is a level above simple justice (Al-Adl).

* In Worship: Performing voluntary deeds in addition to the mandatory ones (which is the level of Al-Adl) and executing them with the utmost quality and perfection.

* In General Conduct: Giving more to others and taking less from one's own share, which is a virtue above the necessity of being just.

* Towards Parents: After Allah's right, the greatest human right is that of the parents. Treating them with good treatment (Ihsan) is decreed, especially in their old age. This includes:

* Showing respect and obedience (only in what is permissible, not sinful).

* Not saying "Ugh" to them or scolding them.

* Speaking to them with noble, soft, and loving words.

* Submitting oneself to them in humility and praying for them.

* Towards Creation: Allah has prescribed Ihsan (perfection) in all things. For example, when slaughtering an animal, one must slaughter well, sharpen the blade, and spare the animal unnecessary suffering, demonstrating kindness.

Islamic Eschatology

Eschatology is the part of theology that deals with the doctrine of the "last things" and the ultimate destiny of man. The Quranic term for this is Al-Akhirah (The Last) or Ahwal al-Akhirah (the afterlife situations).

Definition and Core Beliefs

Islamic Eschatology refers to the consequent existence or afterlife. It is the fifth article of Islamic Faith, which is the belief in life after death. This belief includes:

* The Last Day (Qiyāmah): The life of this world will come to an end on an appointed day, and everything will be annihilated and destroyed.

* The Resurrection (Hashr): All human beings who have lived will be restored to life and presented before Allah for judgment.

Belief in Qada’ and Qadar (Pre-destination of Good and Evil)

Belief in Qada’ and Qadar is one of the six pillars of Iman (faith).

It means believing that Allah already knows and decides everything that happens in the universe.

This belief helps Muslims feel calm, thankful, and patient, even during hardships.

Allah says in the Qur’an (Surah Al-Qamar, 54:49):

“Verily, We have created all things with Qadar (Divine Decree).”

Meaning

• Al-Qadar: Allah’s perfect plan and knowledge before things happen.

• Al-Qada’: The execution of what Allah has planned.

So, Al-Qadar comes before Al-Qada’.

4 Components of Qada’ and Qadar

1. Knowledge (ʿIlm)

• Allah knows everything — past, present, and future.

• He even knows what would happen if something had occurred differently.

2. Writing (Kitābah)

• Everything is written in the Preserved Tablet (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz).

• Nothing is left out from Allah’s record.

3. Will (Mashī’ah)

• Nothing happens unless Allah wills it.

• We may plan, but Allah’s Will decides the outcome.

4. Creation (Khalq)

• Allah created everything — life, death, and all that exists.

• Every event, big or small, is part of His creation and plan.

Benefits of Believing in Qada’ and Qadar

4. Teaches humility, patience, and gratitude.

Prophets and the Message of Tawhid

War booty was made lawful for him.

Granted the right of intercession (syafa’ah) on Judgment Day.

Applying the Prophets’ Teachings in Daily Life

Follow the Prophet’s ﷺ example in:

1. Gratitude – Always thank Allah and others.

2. Tolerance – Be patient and make religion easy for others.

3. Repentance – Regularly seek forgiveness from Allah.

4. Simplicity – Avoid making things difficult for people.

5. Equality – No one is superior except by piety.

6. Moderation – Be balanced and avoid extremism.

7. Patience – Endure hardships calmly.

8. Humility – Avoid arrogance; Allah loves beauty, not pride.

All prophets called people to worship Allah alone and live righteously.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is the final and greatest messenger, a perfect example for all.

• Ihsan: to worship Allah as if you see Him; if you can’t see Him, remember that He sees you.

Ihsan is the highest level. A Muslim who reaches this stage (called a Muhsin) performs his worship and actions with full sincerity and excellence.

Meaning of Ihsan

The Arabic word Ihsan means “to do good,” “to beautify,” or “to be kind.”

It includes:

• Doing good to others (parents, relatives, animals, the environment).

• Going beyond basic justice by showing kindness and generosity.

• Performing worship with both quality and sincerity.

Ihsan should be present in all aspects of life — worship, work, and relationships.

Ihsan in the Qur’an and Hadith

• Surah Al-Nahl (16:90): Allah commands justice (Adl) and good conduct (Ihsan). Justice means doing what is required; Ihsan means doing more with excellence.

• Surah Al-Isra’ (17:23–24): Be kind to parents, speak gently to them, show mercy, and pray for them. This is part of Ihsan in family life.

• Hadith Jibril: The Prophet explained Ihsan as worshipping Allah as if you see Him.

• Another Hadith: The Prophet said, “Allah has commanded excellence in everything.” Even when slaughtering animals, do it gently and well.

This shows that Ihsan applies to everything — worship, behaviour, work, and even how we treat animals.

ISLAMIC ESCHATOLOGY

Meaning

Eschatology means belief in life after death — one of the six pillars of faith.

It comes from Greek words meaning “study of the last things.”

In Islam, it is called Al-Akhirah, which refers to the afterlife.

Muslims believe that:

• The world will end one day (Qiyamah).

• Everyone will be resurrected (Al-Hashr).

• Allah will judge everyone for their deeds.

Importance of Belief in the Afterlife

Believing in the afterlife encourages people to live righteously and avoid sin.

Without this belief, people might think actions have no consequences.

It also ensures fairness — since some people do good but aren’t rewarded in this world, Allah will reward or punish everyone justly in the Hereafter.

Eschatology in the Qur’an and Hadith

• Surah Al-Baqarah (2:107): Allah owns the heavens and earth. He alone is the ultimate judge and ruler.

• Surah An-Nisa’ (4:69–57): Those who obey Allah and the Prophet will be rewarded with Paradise; the righteous, truthful, and martyrs will be their companions.

• Surah Ali ‘Imran (3:10–12): Disbelievers and evildoers will face punishment in Hell.

Hadith Jibril: When asked about the “Hour” (Day of Judgement), the Prophet said that no one knows its time except Allah. He mentioned signs such as:

• Servants giving birth to their masters (symbolizing social confusion).

• Poor shepherds competing to build tall buildings.

This shows that eschatology (the end times) is an essential part of Islamic belief.

RELATION BETWEEN IHSAN AND ESCHATOLOGY

Both Ihsan and eschatology are linked through the Hadith of Jibril — they are parts of the complete faith.

• Ihsan inspires Muslims to act sincerely and do their best, knowing Allah sees them.

• Eschatology reminds Muslims that every deed will be judged in the Hereafter.

A Muhsin (one who practices Ihsan) strives to please Allah in all actions, which leads to Paradise in the afterlife.

During the seven weeks of usrah, I have learned many meaningful lessons that helped me to improve myself spiritually and morally. Reasons and Sources of Ḥikmah from ÑibÉdah

Humans are created in this world solely to worship to Allah S.W.T. There are 4 ways to show our taqwa to Allah S.W.T.

1. Salah

   Salah is an obligation for every muslims no matter what the condition and the time is. salah prevents us from doing wrongdoings and bring us closer to Allah.

2. Sawm

   Sawm is an act of not eating from subh to maghrib. Sawm makes us believe that Allah is always observing our moves and motives.

3. Zakah

   Zakah is done to purify our wealth,fostering generousity and reducing greed.

4. Hajj

   Hajj is only for Muslims that is capable of doing it in terms of financially and physically. Hajj will cleanse our bad deeds and helps us becomes a better muslim.

Preparation of Salah with khusyu

Conditions That Make Prayer Obligatory (Syarat Wajib Solat)

1. Islam

2. Of sound mind

3. Has reached puberty

Conditions for the Validity of Prayer (Syarat Sah Solat)

1. Free from major and minor ritual impurity

2. Body, clothing, and place of prayer are free from impurities (najis)

3. Covering the aurah (parts of the body that must be covered)

4. Being certain that the time for prayer has begun

5. Facing the qiblah with certainty

6. Knowing how to perform the prayer

7. Avoiding anything that invalidates the prayer

Pillars of Prayer (Rukun Solat)

1. Intention (niyyah)

2. Standing, if able, for obligatory prayers

3. Opening takbir (takbiratul ihram)

4. Reciting Surah al-Fatihah

5. Bowing (rukuʿ)

6. Standing upright after bowing (iʿtidal)

7. Prostrating twice in each unit (rakʿah)

Wudhu

Obligatory acts of wudhu

Tayammum

Tayammum is a substitute for wudhu or ghusl when water is unavailable or its use is harmful (e.g., illness). It is performed using clean earth, sand, or dust.

Obligatory Acts of Tayammum (Farḍ Tayammum)

1. Intention (niyyah) – to perform Tayammum for prayer or purification.

2. Striking the hands on clean earth/dust.

3. Wiping the face once.

4. Wiping both hands/arms up to the elbows once.

Khusyu

Khusyu’ means full focus, humility, and presence of mind in prayer, avoiding distractions and thinking about worldly matters. It is highly recommended (sunnah mu’akkadah) and makes the prayer more meaningful

Week 2: Wisdom of ʿIbādah

Islamic acts of worship carry deep wisdom and spiritual benefits, as shown in the Qur’an. Ṣalāh prevents immorality (29:45), Ṣawm builds taqwā (2:183), Zakāh purifies wealth and the soul (9:103), and Ḥajj promotes purity, self-control, and piety (2:197). Overall, worship strengthens faith, discipline, and moral character.

Week 3: Preparation of Salah with Khushu’

Proper ṣalāh requires fulfilling its conditions, pillars, and avoiding invalidators. Wudu’ and tayammum ensure physical and spiritual purity. Khushu’, though sunnah, is essential for meaningful prayer and is achieved through preparation, understanding recitations, minimizing distractions, and sincere focus on Allah.

Week 4: Virtues of Salāh with Khushū‘

Khushū‘ is the heart of ṣalāh, involving humility and full presence before Allah (23:1–2). It shapes character by cultivating five virtues: obedience (ṭā‘ah), inner struggle (jihād al-nafs), self-reflection (muḥāsabah), modesty (iffah), and humility (tawāḍu‘). True ṣalāh transforms both faith and daily behavior.

Week 5: Fasting and Taqwā

Fasting is prescribed to believers to develop taqwā (2:183). It requires sincerity beyond physical hunger, nurturing patience, self-control, and mindfulness of Allah. According to al-Ghazālī, fasting has three levels—from physical restraint to guarding the heart. It also instills mercy (raḥmah) by fostering empathy and generosity toward others.

Week 4 – Virtues of Salah with Khushu

• Khushu = presence of heart and mind before Allah, humility, attentiveness.

• Impacts of Salah with Khushu:

  • Strengthens relationship with Allah.

  • Shapes inner character (akhlak).

  • Prevents sinful behaviour.

• Virtues:

  • Al-Ta‘ah – submission and loyalty to Allah.

  • Muhasabah – self-reflection and awareness of sins.

  • Al-Jihad – striving against laziness and distractions.

  • ‘Iffah – modesty and self-restraint.

  • Tawaddu‘ – humility, removing pride.

• Conclusion: True Salah transforms the heart and actions, building strong Islamic personality.

Week 5 – Fasting and Its Virtues

• Qur’an (2:183): Fasting prescribed to attain taqwa (mindfulness of Allah).

• Virtues of Fasting:

  • Sabr (patience) – obedience, abstaining from prohibitions, enduring trials.

  • Levels of fasting (al-Ghazali):

    • Minimum – avoid food, drink, intimacy.

    • Intermediary – guard body from sins.

    • Optimal – purify heart from worldly distractions.

  • Rahmah (mercy and empathy) – feeling the suffering of the poor, encouraging feeding others.

    • Hadith: Whoever provides food for a fasting person earns the same reward.

• Conclusion: Fasting disciplines the soul, instills empathy, and strengthens taqwa.

Week 6 – Virtues of Zakah and Sadaqah

• Definition of Zakah:

  • Literal – growth, blessing, purification.

  • Technical – prescribed share of wealth for deserving categories.

• Differences between Zakah and Sadaqah:

  • Zakah is compulsory, structured, with specific rules and recipients.

  • Sadaqah is recommended, flexible, and open to all forms of giving.

• Virtues:

  • Tawakkul – reliance on Allah, not wealth. Giving zakah shows trust in Allah’s promise of provision.

  • Ukhuwwah – brotherhood and unity. Builds empathy, reduces selfishness, strengthens community bonds.

• Conclusion:

  • Vertical relationship – obedience to Allah.

  • Horizontal relationship – care for people.

  • Promotes unity, responsibility, and detachment from materialism.
