ANALYSIS AND REFLECTION

In order to have a better analysis of the usage of apps for both, academic and non academic purposes, each member of our group asked the following questions to five different classmates:

- Which apps do you use for entertainment or personal life?
- Which apps do you use for academic purposes?

Based on the results and answers we obtained, we can conclude that the apps we use the most for entertainment or personal purposes are: Facebook, Instagram, Gmail, Whatsapp, and Youtube, whereas the ones used for academic purposes are Dropbox, Schoology, Kahoot, and Google apps in general. As we can find in this page, Gmail is one of the Google apps that students use the most, this is because we always need to be in contact with out professors and classmates. A lot of professors use Gmail not only to deliver messages to the class but also to send materials and receive assignments.

Furthermore, Youtube has been a great source of videos with explanations of topics that students may find complex or feel that others perspectives may be useful, this is why it was also included in the section of this page about academic tool. However, we can see that both Gmail and Youtube are not only used for those academic purposes. Many people over the world, including our clasmates and ourselves use Youtube for other purposes such as listening to music or even wacthing funny videos, and use Gmail in other aspects of our lives, for example, many of us use it in our jobs or to communicate with other entities.

Finally, it was impressive to find that many students said that each day professors are using Whatsapp more and more as a way to improve communication with their students with real time messaging, and students also use it between themselves to ask about the homeworks or to sent texts, archives and material in general through it. The conclusion can be summarized in the next Venn diagram:
