It's a story about being unique and expressing yourself and the bond between fathers and daughters.

The other team, the bandits, tried to cheat by adding a grizzly bear.

The farm team stayed postitive and encouraged each other to instill the belief they could win.

Despite injuries and things thrown at the farm team from the bandits dirty play, they trusted bench players sally the cow and a chicken that ended up scoring thr game winning goal.

The moral of the story:

good always overcomes bad

you can do anything with encouragement and belief

Etienne's cousin turns out to be the best player out of all the kids and the book ends with a fun twist/surprise!
